I liked it. The best scenes of the show have always included Brody and Carrie, loved the interrogation scene. Carrie is still bat shit and Brody still might play her.

I did view it though through the lens that Brody's story line ends this season which may affect how I viewed the episode.

    I thought it was great.

      • Best acting on television this year was in that interrogation scene.

              That was my thought also.

                Spoiler for Tailor Shop:
That scene killed me. So the tailor has been dead for 2 weeks and Abu Nazir's team decides to go recover the C4 when the CIA is inside? That was so stupid. The reporter chick confirmed they had eyes on the shop. They would have retrieved that the night after he was moved and determined the place clear. The last thing they'd want is to draw attention to themselves, lose assets and the C4 they were after. A little touristy town like Gettysburg and they're going to roll through the front door, middle of the day, dressed like SWAT, drop a hundred rounds and then waltz out with that case and a dead guy over their shoulder? Too much. And if the CIA was inside they'd have eyes on the building covering all points of entry. I can let a lot of other stuff go and have, but that scene was just absurd.

                Other than that good episode.

That's fair. Both my wife and I commented about how unrealistic that was.

This is how I rationalized it two parts...

There exists somebody above Brody in the CIA on the bad guys side that is watching Brody to see how loyal he is to their cause.

                    And

Haven't they said that the team is quasi-CIA? Because of them keeping Brody's story hidden they haven't escalated through official CIA ranks.

That makes sense to me. I thought the gun fight was sweet.

I watched two episodes last night (think I'm still behind one) and should have seen this coming. I thought Brody was done after this season, but I just don't think there's any way at this point. When they caught him so early in the season, I knew the plan was going to be to flip him and have him start working with the CIA.

My guess was Brody would end after this season, and the show would continue chasing other leads trying to get Nazir. The problem is you can't remove Brody and keep the Nazir storyline going. The minute Brody gets caught and the public knows, Nazir would disappear.

So we're headed forward with Brody. The good thing is I think they could give him his redemption and not have it feel cheap. They've drawn the character well enough that you can see his conflict. Thus, it's not just some evil guy you want to see caught and have to pay the price. During that interrogation scene, my wife says "I feel so bad for him." Despite what he tried to do, he's a sympathetic enough character that if they pursue the angle of him helping the CIA and burying what happened, I think I can go with.

One of the podcasts this morning was talking about the Christ parallel in the interrogation scene. Wound through the middle of the hand, Carrie giving him water, him crumbling on the the floor in the fetal only to reemerge a "resurrected" being. Can't believe I didn't pick up on that. Yeah, they're going hard for the redemption thing here, I think. Not going to happen right away, but I think that's where they end up by the time the show is done.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

                          Spoiler for Yes:
Abu Nazir (with his beard shaved off).

                            Spoiler for Ugh:
So Brody is abducted and taken to an undisclosed location which we are to presume is still in the United States and Abu Nazir is there? He's made out to be a Bin Laden-like figure and we're supposed to believe that he can shave his beard (which would likely never happen for someone of his stature and belief) and enter the United States undetected? Brody, a congressman and VP candidate can just disappear for several hours? This storyline is getting a bit too unbelievable.

I was telling my wife at the beginning of the episode that I was ready to see Mrs. Brody's boobs again and lo and behold they came out again just a few minutes later.

                                Tender mercies.
