  • I’ll definitely watch the Nightstalker doc. Thanks for that rec.

I just finished Halt and Catch Fire (I’m three years late to the party unfortunately) and that show is amazing: Really exceptional character development and a lot of great 80s and 90s nostalgia.

The ratings for Halt and Catch Fire were bad apparently and I’m so glad they still made 4 seasons. It’s definitely in my top ten favorite TV shows ever.

I binged it over the weekend and really enjoyed it despite the dubbed English. That annoyed me at times.

      • I binged Lupin as well this weekend. It is a fun show. I would have liked more progress in season one though. I agree that 5 episodes were not enough.

I watched it in French with subtitles, much better.

Season 1 part 2 is hopefully coming in less than 6 months. They already wrote and filmed it, pretty much ready to go from what I read.

HACF is very underrated. Loved that show from S1E1. I think I watched the first season week to week and then started saving full seasons on my DVR.

Halt and Catch Fire is one of my favorite shows of all time. Love all of those characters. If I remember correctly, it came out right after Breaking Bad finished and shortly after The Americans started, both shows that I loved. I somehow got the impression that it was kind of a cheap imitation of those shows (i.e., prestige AMC drama that was a period piece) that didn't live up to the quality of those shows, so I didn't watch it at first. I decided to check it out right before the final season was released and fell in love. I think it stands up with Breaking Bad and might be even better than The Americans. It's too bad more people didn't watch it, although I'm glad they somehow got 4 seasons made.

Not going to disagree, but considering the amounts they're paying for content, it's not surprising.

Based on your post, I started binging it and am now halfway through season four. I love it. Beautifully written and brings back so many memories. As soon as they started talking about baud rates and RS-232 cables, I was hooked.

                        Sweet!

The last half of season 4 is SO good. I wish I could watch it again for the first time.

                        • As another disciple of Cardiac, I started watching Halt and Catch Fire as well. We're only 2/3ds through Season 1. Episode 4 was one of the better episodes of any series we've seen. The next couple of episodes were less enjoyable, mainly because all the main characters' flaws were highlighted, with nary a redemptive action by any of them (perhaps we'll wait in vain?). Still, very entertaining. But I have a hard time looking at Bosworth without thinking, "I'm the Wiz!" Sorry for the Seinfeld reference.

Bosworth probably ended up being my favorite character of the whole series. Toby Huss is a great actor. He is also very good in Dickinson (AppleTV).

Funny. I think this doc is just awful. Poorly executed (pun!). Amazing story, but really poorly told. A legit clinic in how to take a fascinating topic and make it boring AF. Seriously, last night I woke up at 3:30 am and couldn't get back to sleep. I fired up an episode of this and was asleep in no time. Not even lying.
