Honestly? For fun. I've been watching this type of video for 7 years now, and figured I'd give it a shot. It's been fun for me.

And in answer to your question "Why should I watch?" the answer is also for fun. I hope to be mildly entertaining. I like watching other people play sometimes. It's fun and less stressful than playing myself.

So in the last couple of weeks, I've started a YoutTube game casting channel. My focus is Blizzard games (specifically Starcraft 2, Hearthstone and World of Warcraft), but plan on branching out depending on how things go.

Do you follow any of the LoL stuff on Twitch or elsewhere? There is such a huge community of people that enjoy watching other people play video games. This is really popular in Asia. Riot has hosted a series of LoL competitions that serve as opens to a larger global invitational LoL tournament. At most of the Asian regional competitions, tickets sold out like a rock concert. These are kids that are sitting in small arenas watching other teams play video games. They cheer, they buy concessions and merch, etc. Blows my mind.

I'm not a fan of MOBAs in general, so I don't watch LOL, but the original Starcraft was huge in Korea during the 90's (and SC2 is huge today). Check out this video:

And today, there's MLG, IEM, Dreamhack, etc. etc. There are major tournaments going on for big money pretty much all year round.

If I'd have known the way the winds were gonna blow I would have stuck with the gamer thing. I was bulletproof on SMB back in 87.
