  • This article speculates that Warner Bros is turning Batman into an annual series so it's getting two studios in on the projects. Makes sense especially with concerns that the next generation platform release during this season was going to take away some of the thunder from the most recent Arkham release.

So, Rocksteady may be at work on the first Arkham release for the PS4/XBone.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

    • They are working on the next Arkham game. Earlier this year Kevin Conroy let slip that he was voice acting a new Arkham game just not Arkham Origins.

      • Forza 5 is really amazing. Not only does it look beautiful, but the racing is amazing. You can really adjust the assists to make it as difficult as you want (none of this easy, medium, hard stuff). Having the game learn how you drive and using the driving profiles of other drivers as your opponents instead of AI is pretty cool, too. Instead of having pretty much every car driving perfectly, you can see some cars take turns wide, others will cut inside, while others are trying to recover from spinning off the track. It's really, really cool.
        Not that, sickos.

I have to laugh when I think of my profile racing out there. I'm sure I'm all over the track. The one thing I wonder about is how it handles crashes with other cars. I haven't seen any cars look like they are phantom crashing, so I have to assume there are some smarts in there that ignore data from when a car runs into another car.

I've seen them crash. One car almost flipped in front of me, which was pretty cool. Had I had the presence of mind, I would have told the Xbox to record it.

            • I have briefly mentioned this in another thread, but Super Mario 3D World is nuts. Probably the greatest Mario game if you take away the nostalgia factor. It incorporates elements of all the past games into a mashup of awesome. It's got the weirdness/creativity of SMB2, the level detail/challenge of SMB3, and the feel of SMB Galaxy. I liked Galaxy, but I wasn't as effusive in its praise because it seemed a bit repetitive. SM3DWI'm only on world 4, but all the levels seem fresh and distinct from each other. I just checked out some online reviews and they all seem to agree with me.

I haven't played this on multi-player, but I heard that was awesome, too.

Nintendo is such a great game developer. On one hand, I want them to succeed on the hardware side because of what they've meant to the industry since the 80s and how much I loved the NES as a kid. On the other hand, I want to be able to buy their games for non-Nintendo systems and that's not happening until they stop making consoles.

I'm not torn. I'm pulling for Nintendo to become like Sega. I would love to play the new Mario games, but no way I'm buying a WiiU until it is $150 or less.

I got the Wii U like a year ago. I don't doubt that the new Xbox is awesome, but I kind of don't have any compelling reason to get one right now. I'm not really so much into the online multiplayer shoot-em-ups like many are, and my streaming needs are well taken care of between the 360 and the Wii U. As far as my gamer fix-- I had my doubts about Nintendo getting it done, but that has evaporated w this release. Plus, Need For Speed and NBA2K13 are pretty awesome on the WiiU. I think the system is a steal at the current $300 sticker, but you never know-- they really messed up this release. We'll see how the 3rd party releases stack up by console.

I also have no compelling reason to get an Xbox One or PS4. I'll buy one when they are in the $200 to $250 range, like I did with the Xbox360. I just cannot justify paying over $250 for a video game console, just like I can't justify paying full price for games. I might get a PS3 in the next year or 2 to play the exclusives that I want to try.

                      • If you are a gamer you have no reason not to have a ps3. too many good games you are missing out on and the price wont go down anytime soon.

Really? I'd think this is just the time you can find a hot deal. If not at retail on Amazon, ebay, or good ol' CL.

                          • For the record, I don't mind what happened to Sega, but it's kind of sad considering they were really onto something w the Dreamcast. It was so much fun at the time. Now that video games are big business, it follows that the big businesses will dominate the industry- Sony, Microsoft... it's merely a matter of time before Apple throws its hat into the ring.

Valve is throwing its hat into the ring with its steam box, steamOS and controller initiatives. They and their OEM partners will be unveiling the first wave of steam boxes at CES in January. Ibuypower released pictures of their steam box which has better hardware than either console and is suppose to cost $500. Add in Valve's close relationship with the Oculus Rift and they could eat away a big portion of the market.
