It's more drama than comedy, and really gets into the relationships and how the characters deal with adversity. The crime scene cleaning is just the vehicle. All in all I quite liked it and it made an impression on me. I'd give it about an 8 out of 10.
I saw it in theaters. I liked it. Amy Adams is really fantastic.

"Sugar". MG mentioned this movie a while ago. It's a solid baseball movie, while also being a fish-out-of-water story.

Last night I watched this movie called Love Happens. It was bad. So bad. But I had to throw it in my queue to keep up on all movies taking place or shot in Seattle.

I get why Aniston does a movie like this, but why Eckhart? I guess to pay the bills and tithing.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

Solid baseball movie does not adequately describe that movie. The description you are looking for is best baseball movie ever.

Saw Transformers II last night. My expectations were so low going in that I didn't think it was possible to fail to meet them. I was wrong. That made Transformers seem Oscar-worthy.

We went and saw CRAZY HEART last night. All the buzz that's going around about Jeff Bridges' performance is completely justified. Maggie Gyllenhaal is excellent as well. The story itself is pretty familiar but what was refreshing was how low key the whole thing was played. There are no big histrionics or capital 'A' ACTING, if you know what I mean. Instead, these characters all felt real and lived in and the relationships between them seemed very genuine. On top of that, the music was fantastic. I've been humming the tunes since I left the theater.
Kids in general these days seem more socially retarded...

None of them date. They hang out. They text. They sit in the same car or room and don't say a word...they text. Then, they go home and whack off to internet porn.

I think that's the sad truth about why these kids are retards.

I'm fairly certain there was a Jar Jar Binks transformers, somewhere behind one of the gratuitous shots of Megan Fox running around for no real reason.

Been wanting to see that...love Jeff Bridges.

As for Maggie, my eyes still haven't recovered from seeing her banana boobs in Sherry Baby.

"Fight Club". I wasn't expecting the twist at the end. It does retroactively lower my opinion of "Wanted", although "Fight Club" is hardly the first film to explore these themes and this overarching concept of eschewing a soft, materialistic existence for an enlightened, Id-based nihilism.

                    Spoiler for Twist is revealed:
It also kind of ruins "Youth in Revolt", too. Michael Cera being a French badass with a moustache as an alter-ego is cool because it's a new avenue for him as an actor, but who wouldn't want Brad Pitt to be the one that leads them down a path of hyper-masculinity?

                    • Saw PRECIOUS last night but was disappointed to learn that it nothing whatsoever to do with Gollum from LORD OF THE RINGS. Oh well, it was still an excellent drama. Some of the things I had read had me anticipating a grueling exercise in poverty-exploitation that would just be agony to sit through but that was pretty far from the truth. The lead performances were both astonishing and the movie was shot with the intensity of something closer to an action film. There were times when I wanted to turn away from the screen because of the horrors of the main character's situation, but couldn't because the raw filmmaking style kept me too engaged to want to miss anything.

The film wasn't without its flaws: Some of the "inner city classroom" scenes have been seen too many times before to have as strong an impact as the director wanted. (It also doesn't help that season four of THE WIRE has pretty much done it all better than anyone else could anyway.) But I actually enjoyed the film a lot more than I anticipated and am curious to see what the director, Lee Daniels, does next.

                      • "Once". Great soundtrack, and I was engrossed in the two main characters. It's very tender.

                        • "Big Fan". Kind of unsettling, but Patton Oswalt is a champ.

I wonder how many people I know would pass up millions of dollars in a lawsuit or decline to press charges against their favorite athlete for the sake of the team.

                            Nice spoiler.

That doesn't completely spoil it, though.
