  • Beyond:

of the rebooted series, I think Stars Wars 1 was the best, and they get consecutively weaker. 2 was still good, but this one was meh. Too much explosition and not enough exposition. (I thought I cleverly made that up, but its in the Urban Dictionary). The girl is derivitive, I hate that Simon Pegg wrote the screenplay, I hate that Justin Lin directed it. I guess when you're the franchise director for Fast and Furious, you're going to put in a lot of explosives and loud noises. (Although Justin Lin directed one of my all time favorite episodes of TV: Modern Warfare from the show Community. )

I did like the homage to Anton Yelchin at the beginning of the movie, as Kirk and Bones drank a shot of Chekov's whiskey, but it confused me for a while because I didnt know that Yelchin finished the movie before dying.

    • My wife keeps dragging me to these Star Trek movies, honestly they all just blend together. She likes Chris Pine and would like anything he was in, me I was ready for it to be over about a minute into it.

      • Bone Tomahawk. Pretty solid. Over delivered for its IMDB 7.1.

        • Star Trek Beyond. The Star Trek reboot movies have been fantastic: Star Trek for people who hate Star Trek, like me. This one was decent, but a bit of a let down compared to the last two.

The story wasn't as compelling and it lacked the great chemistry / relationship building between Kirk and Spock that the first two had. The Bones/Spock buddy angle of this one didn't work very well.

I didn't really enjoy either of the last two. So I'll sit this one out. I'm holding out for Star Trek for people who really hate Star Trek, like me. Those ones will probably be decent.

            • Star Trek Beyond. Definitely my least favorite of the reboots. I didn't hate it, but I could have abstained from seeing it in the theater.

I really did enjoy the first two, BTW.

Bone Tomahawk was awesome. That one scene was pretty cringey.

Yeah, that scene was horrible. Too much of that, and I wouldn't give the film a thumbs up. The violence wasn't over-the-top in terms of quantity. That scene definitely was in terms of quality, but it served to show the brutality of the situation.

                  • Jason Bourne - Reminding me of Spectre. A lot of cool locations, globe trotting, and constant chase scenes with no real plot (or any depth to the plot) and some really, really ridiculous deus ex machinas. I wasn't bored, but I wasn't intrigued either. It was worth the distraction but probably the weakest Bourne movie to date....well, weakest one with Matt Damon. The Bourne Legacy was just dumb. It also didn't help that the guy next to me was rather large and anytime he moved a centimeter in his chair, my chair would flinch. However, driiving home from a Bourne movie is always fun as MJ kept telling me to slow down and to stop swerving

Yup, dont get me ranting about how they took the fundamental premise of the Bourne 1 Book, and changed it to beyond recognition.

They turned it into their own political rant if you ask me..

Yes, if they followed book 1 it will be awesome. Never mind having The Jackal actually play a role would be awesome..

Upon rejecting the Beatles, Dick Rowe told Brian Epstein of the January 1, 1962 audition for Decca, which signed Brian Poole and the Tremeloes instead.

I loved the books. The trip to Russia was classic there.
