    Seconded.
Kids in general these days seem more socially retarded...

None of them date. They hang out. They text. They sit in the same car or room and don't say a word...they text. Then, they go home and whack off to internet porn.

I think that's the sad truth about why these kids are retards.

    • Cate Blanchett's performance in Blue Jasmine is, as expected, outstanding as were several others. Strangely, Andrew Dice Clay did a very nice job as well, and packs a bit of an emotional wallop at the end. The movie's very good, and yet I was left feeling rather empty, despite the fact that I walked out of the theater very grateful that my life is infinitely better than the lives of every character in the film. If you think you'll like the movie based on what you've read, you won't be disappointed; if the movie doesn't sound appealing, I doubt you'll be pleasantly surprised.

BTW, Woody has always had a thing for A Streetcar Named Desire (see, e.g., Sleeper), and this movie shows a lot of that influence. I kept expecting Augie or Chili to stand outside the modest apartment yelling, "STELLA!" or at least "GINGER!" Meanwhile, Jasmine is always depending on the kindness of strangers.

          • Watched End of Watch over the weekend on Netflix. Jake Gyllenhaal and Micheal Pena play a couple of cops in South Central LA. I liked it. They threw out the f bomb a lot so I looked it up and it only comes in 6th place with 326 times.

I saw this in the theatre. I thought it was pretty good, but I watched The Untouchables on Netflix on Saturday- it was even better! I love Sean Connery in this, and also I think it's so adorable when Kevin Costner tries to put on an accent of any kind. He does this monotone thing for a sec and then gives up as the dialogue progresses in any given scene.

We watched it a second time recently and enjoyed it again very much. The shaving scene still cracks me up.

We streamed To Rome With Love, a mediocre Woody Allen movie but with great shots of Rome and Penelope Cruz. It also features an outstanding tenor (real life) who Woody hears singing in the shower. Woody tries to promote him as a singer but the guy can only perform in the shower. This leads to an obvious but still very funny resolution, followed by a memorable performance of Pagliacci. Here's a YouTube spoiler of the initial resolution:

For a movie like this, the entire movies hinges on the chemistry between the two leads and how believable it is. In that regard, they both performed fabulously and the shaving scene is an excellent example.

                            Love the Roxanne scene.

                              • I realize a movie Adore is being released this weekend. I saw it at Sundance when it was called "Two Mothers." It's about two good friends who hook up with and then fall in love with each other's sons and awkwardness ensues. I think I commented on this in a Sundance thread, when I called this movie the full-length version of SNL Digital Short "Motherlovers"

I think it had potential as like a gimmicky faux-fable but flopped based on the laughable premise and sooo terrible dialogue.
