The "last movie I saw" thread

I read that they left it open ended that way to pave the way for the inevitable sequel. I read they filmed a lot of footage in Russia that they didn't even use.

In the trailer it seems that Russia was going to play the role that India ended up playing. I haven't seen it so I don't know what role that is.

Monsters University. I had a Cars/Cars 2 level of expectation, but I was pleasantly surprised. Pretty entertaining. A solid B.

Saw Man of Steel as a EQ Movie Night. I enjoyed it. I do think the crashing through buildings was a little too much. I also wished they had done more into the backstory of Superman in his teenage years. I did enjoy the backstory to his parents and planet.

The Bling Ring

Somehow managed to feel long at 90 mins. There just wasn't enough material here to justify a feature length film.

We took our kids to Monster's University last night.

If you liked the first one, you'll like this. It was a fun movie and some nice family time.

Mrs Sparky and I didn't know what to watch Friday night, so we caught Mud just as it was starting. Good movie. All through the show I was trying to figure out who the old man was, finally realized it was Sam Shepard. Good grief he looks old. I remember watching The Right Stuff as a kid. Sam Shepard's Chuck Yeager was my favorite character and I'm still bummed that he didn't end up being an astronaut. (spoiler?)

We just saw World War Z. Good, not great. Seeing it once was enough. Not planning on buying the dvd.

I give up. I will never understand or like Seth Rogan movies. Even Donnie Darko was incomprehensible. I think my problem is that I haven't seen an R rated movie in a while, and this one seemed unneccesarily crude, although there were a few very brief quips that were genuinely funny. It was too heavy handed, especially the Michael Cera jokes.

I just watched the Big Lebowski.

I thought it sucked, holy cow what a borefest.

Is it a generational thing? Does being born in the 80's affect my ability to connect?

I really thought it was horrible.

I watched it for the first time about 6 months ago and had the same reaction. I thought Burn After Reading was far funnier. Frankly, some of the scenes in Fargo were funnier than anything in Lebowski, in my opinion.

All of you people who are all like "TOO MANY EXPLOSIONS" can go to hell. I love explosions. Thank god for Zack Snyder who finally had the balls to bring a real Superman fight into the 21st century.

That is what it's(a superman fight) supposed to look like, with all the unfathomable speed, power, and collateral destruction that should happen when two super-powered titans clash in a modern day city.

As for the movie... it was ok, I guess.

It was awful. I was bored for most of the last hour ... and the parts I wasn't bored for I was disgusted at for the crass exploitation of 9/11. The first 90 minutes wasn't great, but I was entertained by it. Once the action began, everything fell apart. It was a mess.

Just saw "The Way, Way Back." Best movie I've seen in a long time. Great story, affecting characters, terrific acting. Written by the same guys who shared an Oscar with Alexander Payne for the screen adaptation of "The Descendants."

It opened in L.A. tonight in only 2 theaters. It will get a wide release soon.

Documentary I ran into on Netflix Instant. Obviously it's about knuckleball pitchers, and it chronicles Wakefield and Dickey and the oddity that is the fraternity of knuckleballers.
