+1 That's right! One of the few chuckles in this episode, along with Walt Jr. being star struck at Saul Goodman.

So why did the rednecks show up, and why did they start shooting? Did they find out that Walt was meeting with some cops, or about the money? It wouldn't seem that they'd be too motivated to kill Walt, given the agreement.

I think they realized that their asset (Walt) was in trouble and they wanted to protect him. They need him to teach Todd. Once they get there and see he's in custody, they decide to go take care of that problem.

btw, I'm back on Walt's side more and more every week. This is not the Walt I was expecting to see at this point in the trajectory. He's more sympathetic than I expected.

It was last week for me. He called the hit on Jesse, and Jesse is family. That's the one line he hadn't crossed yet, and now Hank is probably dead because of it.

He was basically coerced into it and it still hasn't happened yet. He's been bumbling around with all these plans like doofus early Walt, not calculated and cold season 4/5 Walt. He's freaking out in the car trying to warn Jesse/Hank even though they're about to put him away. Everyone else around him is talking him into the "full measures." The cancer, the refusal to get back into the game, the worrying about the family, etc. It just all doesn't seem like the trajectory they had him on anymore and it's making me more sympathetic toward him.

The other thing I forgot is Hank. He's coming off as such a douche in his quest for Walt (including his treatment of Jesse) that it's made me want to see Walt win.

With Hank commenting to Gomez that Jesse was/is expendable should things go south. Gomez not fully agreeing with that premise.

One of the things that bugs me about television and movie writing is the seeming need to make a character less sympathetic before you kill them...kind of like an apology: "Oh, well they had it coming". It's one of the reasons I love Game of Thrones. Anyone can die at any time, and it doesn't matter whether you like them or not. I like that, because that's the way life is.
