Might have oversharpened, that sometimes gives that effect. Might also have been just enough separation between the bison and the cars at f/4 to cause a natural difference in focus.Originally posted by tooblue View PostThe image almost feels photoshopped—it has a surreal quality as if the buffalos are composited from another image.

Like this?Originally posted by swampfrog View PostWaited, like everyone else. Eventually a ranger showed up. They use some kind of clicking noise that get the bison to move along. Often the road is the easiest route to get from point A to point B. You can get stuck for hours sometimes.

fantastic as usual, Mr. Frog!
I may be small, but I'm slow.
A veteran - whether active duty, retired, or national guard or reserve is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to, "The United States of America ", for an amount of "up to and including my life - it's an honor."

I wonder where you could be?Originally posted by tooblue View PostI can't compete with spring in Yellowstone, but your shots inspired me (as well as our first sunny day in five days) to get back out and capture wild Trilliums in bloom:

Next weekend (starting the 24th), I'll be heading out on a 8 day birding tour in Oregon. A rented 600mm f/4L IS III will be coming along for the ride. I'll probably be posting birds for months.
Here's a few more to end my first day in Yellowstone. More dramatic as the light falls. I have a few more from the next morning to get to processing still.

July 1st (Canada Day) to July 4 in Southern Ontario
This August we are celebrating my father in-law's 90th birthday and the 75th anniversary of the family cottage. He was 14 when he and his father started to build the building you see in the second photo. His parents bought the property shortly after the death of his older brother (first photo), who was a navigator on a Lancastor bomber shot down over Belgium on a bombing run into Germany. My wife is the youngest of 13 cousins who share the cottage. Our family often books the first week of July. We are very blessed—Happy Canada Day and July 4th celebrations.
