Odd huh. My Dad was faculty - we had season tickets in the fieldhouse and then on row 13 in the Big Mac - and all of that was 50 years ago.Originally posted by PaloAltoCougar View PostWatching the game, it occurred to me that when I was an undergrad, and the Marriott Center was brand new, the Fieldhouse (where I watch Kresimir Cosic my freshman year) seemed ancient. It was 20 years old. The Marriott Center is 50.

it's been awhile since I posted anything, and one of my new year resolutions is to drop in more often.
I do peruse off and on, but with life...
Any way, I hope everyone had a pleasant and joyful Christmas and New Year.
I may be small, but I'm slow.

Things are going pretty good. My health is probably as good as it is going to get - I'm still diabetic, but it is under control, I am waling about 150 miles or so a month and just enjoying myself.Originally posted by Bo Diddley View Post

We'll finally get to do some traveling this spring and summer - A trip to Britian and Denmark this spring and probably Maryland later this summer. Being retired is nice

Yeah, he is amazing.Originally posted by YOhio View PostI really like watching behind the scenes videos of Tom Cruise doing his own stunts in action movies. There are no Burger King restaurants in Northern Utah County. I did a little digging and found that this is a very strange statistical abnormality. A few interesting things I've observed.
1- With 6,778 Burger King restaurants in the United States there is 1 Burger King per 49K residents
2- According to some online data aggregator I found, the state of Utah about fits national average with 2.2 BK per 100K residents.
3- The northernmost Burger King in Utah County is in Orem at the shopping plaza on Center Street.
4- The Utah County resident population north of this area is estimated to be in the 250K range
So going by national and state trends, there should be about 5 Burger King restaurants in the Pleasant Grove/Lindon/Lehi/American Fork/Saratoga Springs/Eagle Mountain/Alpine/Highland metropolitan area. But there are none. Previously there was one in Lehi and one in Saratoga Springs, but they've both shut down. I'm very curious as to why a fast food restaurant with the 5th most units in America can't succeed in what should be a prime location. This is such a mystery!!!!

I’m guessing they will move back in, but the franchisee who own the two places went bankrupt, IIRC.Originally posted by YOhio View PostThere are no Burger King restaurants in Northern Utah County. There used to be one in American fork on state street as well, but that left a while ago and is some non-fast food place now.
