You are correct, and the change was a good one for reasons independent of 9-11 respect. One can Google all of the ads--I think there are a couple dozen--so I won't post them all here, but as a concluding entry, I'll provide the following bit that I heard for the first time on my drive home from work and nearly lost it.

            • I wonder what percent are LDS? A member of our ward opened up a Swig copycat shop in our area. I've been there 3 or 4 times and have see members of the stake there every time.

              • That's loony tunes. Why would anyone wait in line that long for some soda with some additional syrup or whatever pumped into it? Never have I ever been to a Swig, Sodalicious, or Fizz and have no plans to break my streak of abstinence.

i imagine most do it because they like how it tastes. but i'm with you, i'm not sure any food or drink is worth waiting in a line like that.

My daughter and son-in-law recently hosted two friends they made when they lived in Cambridge for law school. The friends were from Texas. They were here for 5 days or so and they took them to Swig on the first day and the friends went back to Swig every single day after that. They loved it.

Just go to Maverick and make your own. Way cheaper. This things keep me awake for hours on the loneliest highway.

A Swig opened up 10 miles from my house. They were offering a free drink or 50% off or something like that opening weekend. We went to get drinks and the line was about 40 cars long so, after doing some math and figuring I could either save a couple bucks and lose two hours being in line (including gas) or just go to the Fizz that isn’t far away. We went to the Fizz, which is better than Swig anyway.

There’s now a couple of these soda places around. The Fizz is struggling, probably mostly because of location but also because you have to pass five little coffee shops to get there and 95% of Houstonians prefer coffee over side for their caffeine.

We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

This. Or Holiday and even some 7-11s have flavor shots now. 64 oz if you have a mug like mine in whatever flavor you want for less than 2 bucks with no wait. Maverik even gives you the recipes for various concoctions.

all true, but reality is people don't want to get out of their cars.
