It would be cool if there was a web site or database or project that somehow tracked word usage over time, or even focused on popular words that cycle in and out of the English language over time. For example, today I heard some Japanese co-workers talking about a ホトライヌ, a "hotline" that they're setting up. I really think it had been years since I'd heard the word "hotline." It seems like it had its peak in the 80s and early 90s, because by the 00s I hardly ever heard the word anymore. It would be interesting to somehow track word usage over time.Visca Catalunya Lliure

The first 2 miles of my walk today was without the dog. It felt unbalanced somehow. Funny how you get used to things
I may be small, but I'm slow.

My regular walking companion was with the wife at my Mom and Dads. I picked him up there and finished the last 4.5 miles of my walkOriginally posted by Art Vandelay View PostDid you pick up a stray after the first 10,560 feet?

Wow 6.5 miles that is impressive. You seem to be doing an awesome job of keeping yourself fit. Things like this really help to inspire me to try and keep exercising regulary. Keep up the good work.Originally posted by happyone View PostMy regular walking companion was with the wife at my Mom and Dads. I picked him up there and finished the last 4.5 miles of my walk

It keeps me off the meds. Actually it would probably be cheaper to just take the metformin. I go through a pair of shoes every 3 months

a couple of observations about the gym I go to
1. Why do people try and get the closest parking spot to the door? Aren't they going to exercise. I woulld think they would try and get the farthest away from the door.
2. The gym I go to has an indoor track - 10 laps to the mile. Every time I go up there, there are people running on the track, even when it is a beautiful day outside.Last edited by happyone; 02-16-2010, 07:07 AM.

I tire of changing my avatar everyday but I can't think of a good, permanent one, so I'll stick with the birthday honorees for now. One thing that makes this approach worth it is that the website which lists birthdays often includes very unusual honorees which, while funny, might be inappropriate for a more mature poster (which I try to be) to employ. Today's example: Tabitha Stephens--not the daughter of Darren and Samantha Stephens, but the porn star whose seminal work, per the website, was San Fernando Jones & the Temple of Poon. I regret sharing this information of dubious value but why should I shoulder this burden alone?
