Averaged over 9k on 4 but the photo quality and general lack of tech on the hamburg made me guess in the 90s. I also guessed Zurich, which wasn't as bad. Also anytime I see a film that would make the year easy from now on, I am going with Cannes instead of Paris.
Ha, I guessed Monte Carlo (because James Bond), so that was at least close.

0 yrs off - 244.4 km - I was in Berlin, lucky on the year.

        3)4962 pts
1 yrs off - 9246.2 km - Ritz Carton somewhere, right? I picked Hong Kong because I didn't recognize it from London.

9 yrs off - 1151.8 km - was thinking somewhere in England based on the signage, but couldn't place an event that went with it. Should have just gone with Oslo.

        7 yrs off - 6267.2 km - Picked Austria.

        • 44, 134. Screw you, timeguesser. I had my best ever round going through 4 pictures, including two 10,000pt guesses. And I was one year off on the last photo, but guessed Austria instead of . . . . Vermont.

            ouch

I'm pretty sure PAC talked about where this scene was filmed once, after one of his trips over there, but I couldn't remember where.

I hadn't done nearly as well on the first four guesses, but I feel this.

7500 - 8 years, 13 m - The cars made me think mid-70's, which was too early. Perfect score on location, though (like many others, probably)

5202 - 16 years, 297.8 km - Thought it was probably German, but hedged by placing it in Germany somewhat near the border with Poland and the Czech Republic. Time killed me again.

10000 - 0 years, 1.4 m - After guessing the wrong hemisphere on the DiCaprio picture from the other day, I thought of Cannes and found the Carlton. Figured it was in the 70's, but really just got lucky on the year.

9758 - 2 years, 1.3 km - Thought they might be protesting in England, but I selected Oslo near the city hall because the cobblestone and trolley tracks seemed to match. Thought it would be the onset of WWII.

              4612 - 3 years, 6290.2 km - Why wouldn't they want to practice on location? F-ing Vermont.

Yeah, the cars were a curveball. Most of them were 70s models. But, if you zoomed in, there was a mid 80s Olds Cutlass right above the mailbox. My dad and grandpa were both Olds guys, so I know those taillights well.

I was a couple years off, but the e-scooter in the far right of the picture was the timeline key here. Pretty low res photo for 2023 though. I guessed 2021.

Paying more attention to the Olds probably wouldn't have helped me much. I'm not great at identifying the year for cars. Or pictures, it seems.

I don't know much about cars, but I know 80s Oldmobiles.

There was also an '84 Chevy Cavalier across the street (or similar GM make). Not sure why I went back to 1980 on my guess.

Having served in Salzburg and after a few visits later, I know pretty much every filming location in the Sound of Music. I thought the picture was taken in the Catskills as that's closer to Broadway, but was a bit off.

Fun facts: in the "hills" where Maria and the kids are singing and dancing, one can see Werfen Castle, the fortress used in the classic WWII movie, Where Eagles Dare. After she sings the opening song, hears the church bells, and runs back and into the Abbey, she has covered 30 miles or so--very impressive. And the family hike to safety at the end is on a trail that will take them to Hitler's Eagles Nest.
