I nailed adelaide. Amidst all the signs on that busy road was one that mentioned Adelaide. For the poland one, the website was .pl, so that was a giveaway there. Felt pretty good only 6.7 km away for the finland guess, but totally blew the year.

This is a good example of the emphasis on the correct year vs. distance. I was only 100 m away from the spot (I've been there), but was nine years off rather than your two. You were more than a 1000x times farther away but outscored me on that turn by over 1500 points. Bummer, but them's the rules.

I guess that's why they call it time guesser.

Here's my approach to using the cars to date a photo. It's not a lock, but it's fairly reliable. If the area is poor (3rd world, inner city, etc) then the cars are almost always about a decade behind. I looked at those cars, and the all looked like early to mid 80s cars. Amidst the brownstones of NYC, that means early to mid 90s. If those same cars were parked on Rodeo drive, I would have guessed 1985.

That's a good strategy. I think I picked 1983 today.

I blew the New Jersey/World Trade Center pic the other day because I guessed too early. I knew the cars were 70s cars, but I noticed they were beat up. I over thought it because looking at the shorts, they looked like 70s shorts as well.
