An offensive line that struggled early, and somewhat weak wide receiver play? Let's at least watch one game with the current personnel before we draw conclusions.

The offensive line started shaky, was never great, but improved. There was time to throw. Also you need to scroll up and read what I wrote about pressuring the QB. A lot of that pressure existed because our passing game didn't have to be respected by the defense which left us vulnerable to stacked defenses and blitzes.

Defenses couldn't do that with Tanner because he'd chew them up through the air.

I've been following the whole thread, so no need to scroll up, we just disagree.

IOW he is better on pass plays, as I originally said and with which fusnik implicitly disagreed, which didnt make sense to me. BUt it is just pie in the sky speculation to say it nets out in favor of mangum AND that the net difference comes in such a way as to win a couple of the close games. There is just no clear way to rationally reach that conclusion. Taysom was not great as a passing QB. But he did keep a lot of drives alive with his feet. I am not confident that Mangum would have been able to do enough to keep those drives going. So if he does score more it might come on big pass plays. Less rest for the defense thereby, leading to easier scores ofr opponents, and so forth and so on.

Mangum is an exciting player in his own right. And I hope he lights it up and gives all the guys on the other side of this discussion plenty of ammo for this argument. But that said, I think it is silly to say that Mangum would have definitively won a couple more games or that the coaches just missed on this sort of thing (which is far, far different from saying they screwed up by calling a stupid fake punt in one drive in one game)
          PLesa excuse the tpyos.

I think I misunderstood your previous posts. I thought you didn't understand what he was saying, but it's more that you disagree with what he's saying.

In that case, you are all doing it wrong. No need to bother with a QB switch. Give me access to this time machine you guys are fantasizing about and I could give you an undefeated season simply by changing four play calls. Four!

And by the way, you guys should see my imaginary stock portfolio based on what I should have done. I am worth billions of imaginary dollars!

                    Nelson

I can't think of a year where the QB passed for under 200 yards per game and threw 1 TD per game.
I did a comparison of the last 8 years or so the last time you asked this question and posted it in one of these threads but now I can't find it. I remember 2016 Taysom being better than Heaps and also injured Nelson. Low bar, I know. But we have selective amnesia if we think this year at QB is worse than the dumpster fire of the Heaps/Nelson years.

                      • You guys, quit messing with the timeline. Who knows what havoc you will unleash.
                        Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

                        • With Wyoming as the opponent, dare I hope this means the return, however brief, of perhaps the board's greatest missing alum? I'm anxious to get some updates on life at home when the missus leaves him and the kids to fend for themselves, and some live blogging from a local watering hole.

I tried to bait him into returning and he's still pouting about us leaving the MWC. He's going skiing instead of going to the game. I, on the other hand, booked our plane tickets this morning.

Edit: BTW, where's the best site to get game tickets?

You mean PAC is not God? Much like George Burns or Morgan Freeman, PAC is the board's veritable God figure.
