What does "not available mean"? Is this a situation where BYU wanted him to come to BYU immediately and Seattle said, no way? How could they dictate whether he is "available" or not?

Many coaches have clauses in their contracts that require them to get approval from their current boss before talking to anyone about other job opportunties. I really hope that it was Bevell who decided he was not interested in BYU. It would be incredibly lame if Carroll blocked Holmoe from talking with Bevell, who has made clear that he is interested in a head coaching job.

Really hope we aren't waiting for the Army-Navy game to be over so we can hire Niumatololo. Seems like a great guy, but don't see how he runs anything other than the triple option at BYU. He doesn't know anything else, so we either get the TO with KN or we get a coach that has nothing to offer in terms of X's and O's. Neither option is attractive, IMO.

Ug.. Can't help but think that we got a raw deal on this one. Anae bounced and brought his whole staff before a new HC could even attempt a peace offering. It's not like BYU can offer him the job when they don't even have an offer out yet to choice #1. He's indignant bc he's not choice #1? He sticks around he's either HC, likely OC w Kalani, or Ken gets the gig and decides to run his own O and he takes Bronco's offer. Would have been a whopping 2 weeks' difference.

Meanwhile blue chippers like Troy Warner are left in the lurch while they pick up new offers from places like USC

I like the idea of a new coach coming in and starting fresh with a new staff. Plus, maybe sending some of these guys out into the world, so to speak, seeds the field for a future day when we need to bring some of them home. So a new coach, new staff, that's all good. The thing that bothers me is that it happens just before the incredibly difficult schedule we have next year.

I don't think it's the time to start fresh. We have a great core returning and tons of momentum. Most likely a preseason top 25 team had everything stayed the same.
