Thank you, Commissioner Sankey!Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Agreed. Also, the playoffs field is way too large. The fact that we are talking about some middling teams like BYU, Utah, Texas, etc. getting in makes no sense. None of those teams have any chance of actually winning it. 6 should be the max number of teams. We need to stop pretending that more than 2-3 teams each year actually have a legit shot to win a playoff.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostIt’s criminal that we reserve a spot for a G5 team.As I lead this army, make room for mistakes and depression

Disagree. Just because there were no upsets in year 1 of the 12-team playoff doesn't mean we should scrap that. It's what makes March Madness great, even though we all know that when a 13 upsets a 4 seed, the 13 still has no real shot at winning it all.Originally posted by MartyFunkhouser View Post

The playoff field is too small. Expand to 16 teams. Do away with conference championship games, and play the first round games that weekend.Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss

Probably. I'm just saying the odds of getting an at-large bid as a third place MidXII team are slightly better than the odds of getting an at-large bid after getting thumped by Texas Tech for a second time.Originally posted by Moliere View Post
Any Big12 team not in the CCP will get leap frogged by some random SEC or B10 team, or maybe Miami. That’s how this works.
Having said that, I really, really want the second chance to take on the Red Raiders. Let's go Cincy!

You realize the conference championship games are a recent invention, right? And that ND avoids playing one each year and gets rewarded for it?Originally posted by MartyFunkhouser View Post

16 teams in minimum, IMO. I could really get behind a 20-team playoff, where the top 12 teams get a first round BYE and then 8 remaining teams do a play-in. Would be awesome to have those play-in games on the weekend before Thanksgiving and then have all 16 remaining teams play a playoff game on the Fri/Sat after Thanksgiving.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View Post

"upsets" according to the forced seeding under the current format. Ohio State was favored in every playoff game last year. Not really an upset.Originally posted by beefytee View PostI think 8 was the right number, with 5 AQCCs like we have now and 3 at-large.
Also, there were lots of upsets last year. The 8th seed won it playing the 7th seed in the championship game, for crying out loud.Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss

Exactly. Expand the playoff to 16 teams and get rid of the conference championship games.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View Post

I feel like the SEC, and to a somewhat lesser extent, the B1G need to be reigned in a little bit. Not sure how to accomplish it but I could see cfb becoming more of a regional sport.

I like 12, honestly. I think that is the right number. But, expansion to 16 is inevitable and it won't break my heart if the top four have to play another game.
But I couldn't disagree with JL more. You have to give the G5 a way in. If that means taking away a chance from the #11 team, tough.τὸν ἥλιον ἀνατέλλοντα πλείονες ἢ δυόμενον προσκυνοῦσιν
