Killing Lincoln: BYU @ Nebraska

I would have never known about the Runza but a couple of nice Nebraska fans told us about it before the game. It seemed there was some kind of rotten cabbage mixed in with the ground beef. Well, now I know what a cat barf sandwich with cheese tastes like.Originally posted by Paperback Writer View PostI never understood the Runza craze either, they are gross. I just figured Nebraskans liked them out of conditioning or something. My family didn't move to Nebraska until I was 12. I couldn't finish eating my first Runza "treat". Agree that Runza does serve a good burger and fries so didn't mind going there to eat."If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.

Uncle Ted was in Lincoln not Philly. Hopefully his Runza experience was offset by a good steak. But if the low point of Ted's trip to Nebraska is sampling a nasty Runza, then that's not too bad. I can get a great Philly cheesesteak in my town in Texas. I have yet to see anything resembling a Runza on a menu here. There's a good reason for that.Originally posted by Topper View PostIf you want a Philly cheesesteak, just get one.“Not the victory but the action. Not the goal but the game. In the deed the glory.”

Yes, I did have some excellent ribeye at a couple of places. I imagine if someone looks hard enough they could find a Runza around here but I have no desire to do that.Originally posted by Paperback Writer View PostUncle Ted was in Lincoln not Philly. The fans were mostly great. Walking to the stadium, I had a bunch of people thank us for coming to Lincoln. Lot's of high fives and good sportsmanship after their tough loss (including from the Cornhusker fat Elvis impersonators). There were a few points in the game where their hospitality seems strained:
When their TE got his knee blown up by our DB. Can't say I blame them.
When their punter got his knee blown up. People started to direct their anger toward me. I told them that it appeared as if our guy was blocked into the punter, which replay confirmed. I did get a couple of people complaining that our guy didn't appear to avoid contact after being blocked like a ragdoll to the ground, but they calmed down until....
The unsportsmanlike penalty play (was it on Taysom's INT)? Holy crap. I put my arm around my little guy just in case we had to make a quick exit.
This was my first away game where I didn't sit with the BYU crowd. I'm not sure that I'll do that again. A great part of the experience is celebrating with other Cougar fans. After the last play I was screaming and celebrating in a sea of red, and it just wasn't the same.Jesus wants me for a sunbeam.

in Philly, no less.

Congrats to to the byu on a good win with a fantastic finish.
Quite the Pyrrhic victory, though. Sorry about that."More crazy people to Provo go than to any other town in the state."

I am glad I didn't know how bad Hill's injury was until after the game. It would have put a damper on all the celebrating when Mitch made the catch.
Taysom was looking so good. I feel for him, but am sure he will have a successful life without football.
Great game and a lot of fun to watch (mostly).

Those were great. We had researched the most authentic Philly cheesesteaks and found that place, perhaps you remember the name of the restaurant. The food was great, but the patience for us ordering was .. well Philly patience.Originally posted by Solon View PostI've had a Philly cheesesteak with Topper.

im guessing that after weeks of intensive research for the most authentic steaks, you stumbled across two lesser-known places called Pats and Genos. lets keep it a secret though!Originally posted by Topper View PostThose were great.
