Rugby question: Is where they touch the ball down significant? It appears to be so since they cross the line and then run around a little bit in the end zone before touching the ball down.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

I think that's what determines where the kick is taken.Originally posted by myboynoah View PostRugby question: Is where they touch the ball down significant? Yes. The ensuing conversion kick (2 points) is taken from a spot on a line that is perpendicular to the goal line and from where the ball is touched down. If you score between the posts then the kick is much easier than from the side.Originally posted by myboynoah View PostRugby question: Is where they touch the ball down significant? That's what I thought. That would be an interesting rule change for football.Originally posted by hostile View PostYes. The funniest part of the replay was the crowd erupting in a cheer when the referee announced that the "ruling on the field was confirmed. Touchdown."
Uh, not that touchdown, guys."It's devastating, because we lost to a team that's not even in the Pac-12. To lose to Utah State is horrible." - John White IV

I was still dancing in my basement. When I noticed that there was some play involving Oregon players running downfield, I thought my feed had skipped forward a few minutes. I was about to be really pissed that Utah had let Oregon return the ensuing kickoff for a TD to cut the lead to 14-7.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostI still can't get over how crazy that play was. Watching the replays, it is interesting to watch the crowd reaction. The vast majority were still celebrating while watching the Ducks run the other way with the ball. Maybe they thought it wasn't real. Then you see the shocked faces when it settles in.

I'm surprised by how little ute fans apparently watch other teams. To hear them talk since the game, I guess they really thought they had a chance based on the fact that they could have gone up 14-0. maybe they are unaware that oregon can score two touchdowns in a matter of a few minutes...kind of like they did in the fourth quarter.Originally posted by HuskyFreeNorthwest View PostTrue, because Oregon couldn't have punched another one in at the end from the 10.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

You do realize how damn good Oregon's offense is right? 17 of those points were on short fields that the Ducks were given; 8 plays - 41 yards; 4 plays - 0 yards; and 1 play - 11 yards. Another 7 points was scored by the Oregon defense.Originally posted by myboynoah View Post40+ points, 500+ yards. That's with PAC 12 talent.
Utah's defense played well, but when you get nothing from the offense and keep giving up short fields, the Ducks are going to put up a lot of points on even the best defenses in the country.
The defense deserves no criticism for that loss or any of Utah's losses this year.As I lead this army, make room for mistakes and depression

Clay's play didn't cost the Utes the game. A 14-0 lead on the Ducks is nothing, absolutely nothing. Even without that play, the Utes weren't going to win. You need something better than the 20th best QB in the Pac-12 to beat Oregon.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostI'm surprised by how little ute fans apparently watch other teams. Maybe if the Utes would have gone up 35-0 and it was 28-7 instead, then you could make the argument that it lost the game.As I lead this army, make room for mistakes and depression

Disagree. Clay's play likely did cost the Utes the game. I'm not sure if Utah would have won up 14-0, but it would have been a dogfight from there.Originally posted by mpfunk View PostClay's play didn't cost the Utes the game. I am sure that Utah could not beat Oregon if they gift 14 points on one play. That was insurmountable.
