Here is a DesNews link about the final grades.
Utah topped BYU, again. Interestingly, Bronco is crowing about the increased opportunities for recruiting at Virginia.

Upon rejecting the Beatles, Dick Rowe told Brian Epstein of the January 1, 1962 audition for Decca, which signed Brian Poole and the Tremeloes instead.

No one cares about Utah recruiting grades or UVa's coach.Originally posted by Topper View PostHere is a DesNews link about the final grades.

Wow. When Bronco took over it was we will get all the mormon kids. All the Utah kids. They will recruit us. The honor code doesn't hurt recruiting it helps. Utah going to the PAC12 won't hurt us recruiting against them.
To each comment I said and got chastized for saying he isn't facing reality or is making coach speak. I really thought it was coach speak and not I find out it was the other.

Or it was coachspeak and he didn't realize how limited BYU really is.Originally posted by byu71 View PostWow. When Bronco took over it was we will get all the mormon kids. All the Utah kids. I think he made the right choice. Why tell everyone that it sucks when you can tell everyone it's great?“We were amazed as a coaching staff at how many more choices there are, once you take out the faith-based component. That became our normal. And I used it as a strength because it was for that particular institution.

I think programs, even BYU, rely on a lot of donations from donors. To seriously mislead stockholders in the corporate world is serious.Originally posted by Eddie View PostI think Bronco knew he could either frame it as an obstacle or he could frame it as a strength. Plenty of people would donate just becuase it is BYU. There are still others who are like most boosters. They're more apt to chip in when things look good. To them is it eithical to mislead them?

How is trying to focus on strengths misleading?Originally posted by byu71 View PostI think programs, even BYU, rely on a lot of donations from donors. To seriously mislead stockholders in the corporate world is serious.

Bronco chose to focus on the positives and not the negatives. That's it. It doesn't mean he ignored them. Just that he didn't emphasis them.
When the CEO of a pharmaceutical company is addressing stockholders, telling them about the patent for a new drug, how much time does he spend talking about how awesome the drug is and the illness it cures and how much time does he talk about negative side effects?
Bronco didn't ignore the fact that the Honor Code meant kids had to live by different rules. He just emphasized to them that the honor code would help keep them focused on their education and living in a way that their parents would want. Was he supposed to tell them - "hey - it's really going to suck when you get to BYU. You don't get to have sex. Ever. And you don't get to drink either. Ever." instead?
Does Mique Juarez even visit BYU if he isn't LDS? Does Taysom Hill transfer here if he isn't LDS? No. How many other players did BYU get solely because of the affiliation to the LDS church?
So Bronco focuses on the fact that the LDS church gives him an in with some potential big recruits instead of focusing on the fact that it will keep him from landing some others.
Why do you have a problem with him focusing on the strengths of the LDS affiliation for BYU and not the weaknesses.
Honestly, that was probably one of his smartest moves as a head coach at BYU.

It's not misleading. He's right. It is a strength for some kids. Najee Harris (is that his name) would not ha e visited twice if he didn't like that aspect of it. A corporation would do the same thing.Originally posted by byu71 View PostI think programs, even BYU, rely on a lot of donations from donors. Knock it off. The issue wasn't lying to you it was allowing the issue to pick up steam. People with enough money to donate to something as trivial as college sports addictions, at least in American with its proven meritocracy, should be smart enough to know the limitations of BYU. However, I don't expect the coach to snivel like a pussy about it. Mendenhall's miscalculation was allowing it to develop a life of its own. No good leader spends his time wallowing in the weaknesses for shareholders.Originally posted by byu71 View PostI think programs, even BYU, rely on a lot of donations from donors. Just so Kalani doesn't have to tell you I will. BYU is going to be challenged to land top tier talent - even mormons. BYU will struggle with attrition more than other schools. BYU is not likely to win a national championship. They still want your money, however.

I'm choosing to mostly ignore your fatuity here and instead overwhelm you with so much data that you'll maybe, just maybe, realize that you have reams to read on this subject before you can contribute meaningfully to any conversation on this topic.
