  • Because BYU is Big XII bound, we will now start signing 5 stars, and should welcome Najee Harris to the fold.

Upon rejecting the Beatles, Dick Rowe told Brian Epstein of the January 1, 1962 audition for Decca, which signed Brian Poole and the Tremeloes instead.

    • I don't remember where we were talking about the Gastin kid from Utah County, but either on here or on CB he was said to be overrated.

The PAC 12 analyst the other day on 1280 had extremely high praise for him.

He should be the starting at LB at USC for his sophomore year.

Sounds like that Masina kid was pretty underestimated as well.
I told him he was a goddamn Nazi Stormtrooper.

          • Didn't want to start a new thread, so this'll have to do. This morning's SF Chronicle had a long article about LDS football players at Stanfurd. The intro:

A key chain changed Lane Veach’s life. The Stanford linebacker was walking down a hallway in his dorm two years ago when the then-freshman was stopped by teammate Brandon Fanaika. “Are you Mormon?” Fanaika asked, pointing to Veach’s Brigham Young University key chain. BYU is owned and operated by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a religion also known as LDS or Mormonism. Veach explained he was not, but his LDS girlfriend was a cheerleader at BYU. Fanaika, who had just returned from a two-year mission in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., invited Veach to attend church with him.

Fanaika’s timing was near-perfect. Veach was feeling overwhelmed with the demands of his Division I student-athlete life at and was looking for an answer to his stress. In a moment of homesickness, he had picked up a copy of the Book of Mormon — a gift from his girlfriend that had lain unopened for two years. Veach said he felt an immediate sense of calm and wanted to know more about what he was feeling. Not long after, Fanaika asked him about his key chain. Veach was baptized in November of that year....
I like the idea of non-LDS players at other schools carrying BYU key chains.

He was an absolute beast in high school. He was a faster version of Harvey Unga. Great hands out of the backfield, runs with power, pretty sure he averaged in the 8-9 yard a carry range. You don't see many power backs like him with breakaway speed.

Whoever gets him will be lucky.

I was at Subway the other day. The sandwich ahead of me was really packed. As the sandwich artist began to fold it up, I thought to myself "no way she fits it all in there." In spite of my doubts, she stuffed the sandwich closed, adeptly using a small knife to ensure its retention of substantially all the toppings.

                        Maybe she can help.

Lehi also has a kid named Carson Terrell who is 6'5 220 plays receiver and D-end. Kid is unblockable and goes up and catches everything. Ran a 4.6 at the Ute Shoot earlier this year. Only an 11th grader, he fits the BYU receiver mold nicely.
what's the deal with this cooper kid? i've seen him play two games this year and he's looked great.
