I'm excited to see Fred Warner play. He was billed as the next KVN early on, and I believe KVN was the reason he came if I remember right? Looks like he's got the spot behind Fua locked down with no interference or sharing an 'or' with anybody."I'm anti, can't no government handle a commando / Your man don't want it, Trump's a bitch! Harvey Jackson looks the part. I wouldn't want to track down a deep ball with him in my peripheral. Also- Bills blows WRs up if I remember correctly.Originally posted by Blueintheface View PostDo we have a big time hitter in the secondary (KAT, FS)? Bills? A few thoughts that stood out:
1) Our WRs are huge. Houk at 6'5" 223, Matthews at 6'6" 215, Mahina at 6'6" 251 and Leslie at 6'3" 215. That is some seriously impressive size to trot out there, making a QBs job a lot easier given the range that these guys have to catch the ball.
2) Our OL is young. 6 of the 10 players listed on the 2-deep are Freshmen or Sophs, and 3 of them are starting. I also wouldn't be shocked by the end of the year to see Koroma overtake Alleto at center.
3) I'm a little surprised to not see Tre Dye on the depth chart based on reviews out of camp. I wonder if he isn't a potential redshirt candidate given our glut of upperclassmen receivers. I also hadn't heard much of Keanu Nelson from camp, but if he's on the two deep at receiver and as a punt returner, I guess he'll contribute?
4) I hope we don't miss 'Quez too badly this week. Hopefully he can use the rest and be fresh for Texas. We'll definitely need him then.

Bills had his moments but also takes some awful angles. Nothing like PoVey or Leavitt (who sounds like he has improved a lot).Originally posted by Commando View PostHarvey Jackson looks the part. * Kearsley and Kanuch dueling for reps at RG - that's a lot of talent there, major upgrade over where we have been
* Hine ahead of Brown filling in for JW - not shocking, but was not a given
* Samson over Moose
* Leslie taking punts
* Fusi no longer listed in C competition - down to Koroma and Aletto
* Lui Lapuaho the ONLY dude on the OL without an "or" next to his listing - that speaks volumes about the coaches belief in the kid's ability
* No Kesni Tausinga on the DL which worries me - he's been dinged up, wonder how much longer he's out, we want his depth this year
* After all of the talk RD and JJ taking their places at boundary and field - maybe Bronco was trolling a bit dangling that Jordan Preator could start, or maybe it wasn't clear until this weekend that these two had met all of the goals they needed to reach in order to ensure they could play - either way, feeling much, much better, esp given that it seems that U Conn has a couple of fairly legit WRs
* Leavitt apparently given the nod over Nacua - mildly surprising to me since it seemed that the momentum was favoring Kai, but not at all surprised as Leavitt has a lot of ability and experience carrying over from last yearUte-ī sunt fīmī differtī
It can't all be wedding cake.

So, it does appear that JJ and RD will indeed play vs UCONN. That's how I read the new depth chart, unless the qualification from Bronco that "there could be changes" might mean they won't play. However, I don't think that's Bronco's style and he kept Williams and Blackmon off the depth chart, so that suggests we do indeed have RD and JJ in the lineup. That's good news!Originally posted by oxcoug View Post* After all of the talk RD and JJ taking their places at boundary and field - maybe Bronco was trolling a bit dangling that Jordan Preator could start, or maybe it wasn't clear until this weekend that these two had met all of the goals they needed to reach in order to ensure they could play - either way, feeling much, much better, esp given that it seems that U Conn has a couple of fairly legit WRs

Redshirt is my guess.Originally posted by Crockett View PostI noticed and wondered about this, as well.
Leslie, Hine, et al are handling special teams and we're pretty loaded at WR and even Z.

more from the UConn Territory:
Sounds like UConn is really on top of things. This quote was from today. From the head coach:
Additional things that he said which are true:We expect a nationally-branded BYU team. In the last 20 or 30 years, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better organization and university in the country in particular as it relates to football success than BYU. We are expecting to see that caliber team at Rentschler Field on Saturday night.
On what stood out against BYU in the past: "I recall that those match-ups were an absolute bitter dogfight and hard-nosed games to the very end. BYU has a massive amount of fight in them and they play with great effort. They are very sound and a really well-coached football team. They're going to be coming at us for four full quarters and on every play, the whole game, no matter what. They're situational alert and they have a lot of talented players back from a year ago."Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

We should make a "coach-speak" app where you click a button and a quote like this is randomly generated.
