Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

          Mac Brown still shellshocked

          http://www.courant.com/sports/uconn-...,5877486.story

Kanell was on the conference call with former Texas coach Mack Brown, who has joined ESPN as an analyst this fall. Browns' Texas Longhorns lost to BYU, 40-21, last season.Hill rushed for 259 yards in that game, so Brown has an intimate knowledge of the BYU quarterback and the team's offense.
"He's one of the top mobile quarterbacks in the country," Brown said. "He's strong, he can run through tackles. They're going to run 90 plus plays a game if they can. So when we're talking about up tempo offense, they're one of the fastest in the country and they usually do not sit and change the play. They go and they continue to go. So you have to line up right on defense. You have to be in great shape on defense, and you have to have attention to detail with their option."

BYU and UConn are BFFs; Bronco likes boring road trips

Coincidentally, Mendenhall said BYU originally targeted Syracuse — a longtime UConn rival that bolted the Big East for the ACC — for its 2014 opener so its players could visit some historical LDS Church sites in upstate New York. But that couldn’t be worked out, so it looked around and ended up scheduling UConn

Diaco amped up to lose the game

                http://www.chicagotribune.com/sns-rt...ry.html#page=1

There's a reason why BYU is a heavy road favorite in this game -- and not even an opening loss will upset the new coach. Much."I'm excited," Diaco said Monday. "I'm excited to watch the players. I'm excited to see what our last nine months of work looks like. I'm excited to see what guys are going to rise to the occasion and what guys will have trouble with it. That will be interesting.
"It's all kind of enjoyable, fun to watch, even the ones that don't necessarily have success. You get excited about figuring out ways to help them be better than they were. It's just a new challenge, a new moment, and one that our program is excited to be a part of.

Wait, BYU tries to schedule games so they can hit up Church history sites? LOL.

Tom and the boys should try to mix in a trip to Akron. I'm sure the team would love a visit to Kirtland.

"Guitar groups are on their way out, Mr Epstein."

Upon rejecting the Beatles, Dick Rowe told Brian Epstein of the January 1, 1962 audition for Decca, which signed Brian Poole and the Tremeloes instead.

Diaco wears nice clothes; UConn assistant coaches had pretty good jobs previously

Bob Diaco came into his first Monday press conference on a game week as clean as a whistle.Suit, fresh haircut.
Suit? Yes, a suit, just as he had in April. In what was a "dress rehearsal" for what a typical game day would feel like, Diaco walked into Rentschler Field before the spring game wearing a suit and toting a brief case.

This is a man who wore a suit throughout his trip to Iowa when Hayden Fry was recruiting him to become a Hawkeye.
That is Diaco's style. He will arrive at Rentschler Field Friday night for the season opener in a suit and his players in coats and ties.
The situation that Diaco, 41, and the staff walked into at UConn is similar to the one that Patterson faced when he started at Iowa in 1979.
"Same as here, young men that have high character and they're frustrated because they haven't been able to succeed the last three years," Patterson said. "They're on the edge of their chair. They're going to do exactly as you tell them to do. When we first met the players, I said, 'You guys need to know this; we all had good jobs that we left to come here. We weren't desperate to have a job at UConn.
