The season isn't in the books yet. If we win the bowl game I'll be satisfied with the season. If we lose, I'll be disappointed with the final record.

BYU was predicted to go 8-4 and Utah was predicted to go 5-7. Right on the money in both cases.
Nobody can claim that BYU over- or under-achieved this year.

My recollection of my prediction was eight or nine wins during the regular season, so we're pretty much where I expected to be.Originally posted by Jacob View PostI agree with the statement that this wasn't a bad season. I stand corrected. They have been in and out of the polls.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View Post"Guitar groups are on their way out, Mr Epstein."

So being where you expected, is that success or not?Originally posted by Pelado View PostMy recollection of my prediction was eight or nine wins during the regular season, so we're pretty much where I expected to be."Guitar groups are on their way out, Mr Epstein."

It's meeting expectations. It's fine for now. I want to see improvement in future seasons.Originally posted by Topper View PostSo being where you expected, is that success or not?"I think it was King Benjamin who said 'you sorry ass shitbags who have no skills that the market values also have an obligation to have the attitude that if one day you do in fact win the PowerBall Lottery that you will then impart of your substance to those without.'"

You seem to be suggesting that success means outperforming how you expect to perform. I'm sorry - but that leaves a very narrow window as far as what success is. I guess in some ways success depends upon what your goals were. BYU was unsuccessful at winning 10 games this year. But if they did about what was expected, isn't that success?Originally posted by Topper View PostSo being where you expected, is that success or not?
I'm not exactly overjoyed or excited by this year's season. I'm a little disappointed at some of the outcomes. But I'm not disappointed in that I think the season was a failure as much as recognizing that there were some missed opportunities.
You might enjoy sports more if you take more of a Lavell approach - don't let the wins get you down, and don't let the losses get you down even more.

I can do that with every team but BYU. With BYU, I am hoping for special seasons. With other teams, it is easy to do. With BYU, not so much.Originally posted by Eddie View PostYou seem to be suggesting that success means outperforming how you expect to perform.
