  • I'm really hoping Wisc isn't in the middle of a big drive, or BYU is facing a 3rd in long, at the end of the 3rd quarter. That looks like it totally energizes the stadium, and I assume the team.

Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

      • Flying out to Chicago in the morning.

        Should be a fun weekend.

I need a root canal, I was told this morning. I am choosing to not get this until I get back. The last time I needed a root canal and had a football game to go to, I passed on the root canal until later, and went to the game. It was the Denver/Pittsburgh playoff game a few years ago. Denver won. This means BYU will also win.

You guys can thank me later for taking one for the team. It's only weird if it doesn't work.

Im hoping Wisconsin has no big drives and that BYU doesnt face third and long at any point in the game.

I never expressed any concern about how or if you would jump around. I was commenting on your intelligence and limited fan base. Im also not worried about how I will jump around. I have a plan.

To the contrary, even if it works it can still be very weird. But if it works we will be glad you did it.

I am really starting to regret the decision not to go to this game. My brother is flying out Friday. I might look on Travelocity for one of those late deals.

Most of the big games I have flown off to we won. There was the FSU game, the UCLA game, the USC game, the Arizona game, the Washington game, the Oklahoma game, the Texas game. If we lose in a close game I will blame myself.

Edit: For those wanting to know. My kids are ticked I didn't buy tickets and take them.

In 1994, Mendenhall was serving on Northern Arizona's football staff but was leaving after the season for a job at Oregon State. Mendenhall called up Andersen, who was serving as the head coach at Park City High School at that time, told him about the job and encouraged him to apply.

"He asked me if I wanted to coach the defensive line or have the opportunity, when I had really nowhere to go," Andersen said at a press conference as quoted by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "I didn't have an in in college football at that point. I was hoping I could get back in at some point. So I owe Bronco a lot for that phone call. We were good friends for a number of years."
Didnt know Bronco help Gary land his first college coaching gig.

I remember those away games against FSU, UCLA, Texas, Arizona, and USC. Good wins.

It’s amazing what winning five games in a row — and doing it in entertaining fashion — can do for a football team. For BYU, it took Saturday’s game at Wisconsin, which had long appeared destined for the Big Ten Network, and put it on ESPN. The mothership. And in the middle of a Saturday afternoon (1:30 p.m.). That doesn't happen very often.
                          **
When I inquired about the BYU-Wisconsin game, a source at ESPN indicated that a matchup between two popular teams, both sporting 6-2 records, is sort of a no-brainer for the channel. And, yes, the word "popular" was applied to BYU.
Three years into their agreement with BYU, ESPN executives continue to insist they’re happy with the arrangement. I’ve pressed them on that, including last year when the Cougars couldn’t produce much in the way of offense and struggled to a rather disappointing 8-5 record. And those ESPN execs never waivered.
I’m the skeptical sort, but the proof is in the schedule. This year, ESPN picked up every BYU game it could for one of its cable networks — two homes games on ESPN: one each on ESPN and ESPNU.

Yes, BYU football fans, you have been challenged to a "Like War" by this week's opponent, Wisconsin. It's up to you to prove that you and your fellow Cougar supporters can get more "likes" on the BYU Like War graphic (which can be found on the BYUCougarBlue Facebook page) than the Badgers can get on theirs (which can be found here).
