My guess is that this was his plan the whole time. Develop a following then work it for money. Too bad - I was enjoying his site.Originally posted by The_Douger View PostLOL
I don't pay 10 bucks a month for Netflix. I'm not paying Tree 10 bucks a month for 3 articles a week.
I'd pay if it was like 2 bucks a month. I bet he'd get a lot more subs as well.

Sign up in September, October and November, then cancel. You'd be getting essentially the same thing that way. I can't imagine his blog will have great content in May, but that's just me.Originally posted by The_Douger View PostI was enjoying it as well.
I just wish he'd do it for cheap. I want more BYU related material out there. It's just not worth 120 bucks a year to me. I'd sign up for a year if it was 30 bucks.

we should all chip in and buy one and then everyone share the same login and password. We would essentially get the blog for pennies per person. lol, tree didnt think this one through very well. he was a much better linebacker than he is an internet entrepreneur.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

This game is very interesting to me. Wisconsin is a team that I always wanted BYU to play, because I felt like they matched up very well, in sort of a grind it out, we're going to play you tough sort of style instead of using straight up speed (TCU) to beat you. I always felt that Wisconsin's unfamiliarity with a team like BYU would help tip the scales in the Cougs favor. Wisconsin is big and physical, and I would plan on seeing a lot of fronts with Peck, Ethyn and Bronson with Marques rotating in quite frequently. I wouldn't even be totally shocked to see some packages where they bring all four in at the same time. Defensively, we're going to have to play gap sound football, and we aren't going to be able to miss tackles. Sorenson and Bills are going to be critical because Wisconsins backs and OL are really, really good. I would imagine one of those guys will be up in the box most of the game, which could make us very vulnerable to play action pass. Where BYU's D this year is strong is its speed side to side. It also allows the corners to play more zone squatting the flat instead of dropping deep, which allows them to provide run support on the edges. Going straight ahead takes that away and requires the safety down in the box since the corners can't provide run support to the middle. I agree that the key is going to be to make them one dimensional. First and second downs are going to be critical in putting them into 3rd and long and predictable. I think their QB isn't great, but more important is going to be providing help to the corners with our safeties in passing downs over the top. Single coverage on the edges makes me a little bit nervous.
Where this game really becomes interesting to me is Gary (and to a lesser degree Andy Ludwig's) familiarity with BYU on both sides of the ball. They know that they can't overlook BYU. Gary especially has had success shutting down BYU's ground game. The thing they haven't had to prep for is Taysom Hill. From the little bit of the Wisconsin game I watched on Saturday, they looked to play a lot of man coverage. If that's the case, Taysom should have the opportunity to run the ball in the passing game to extend drives. The key will be to keep things 3rd and 6 or less. The other big factor is going to be BYU's OL. Can they play like they did against Texas or Boise? If they do, we've got a good chance at winning. If not, we could be in for an ugly afternoon (think Notre Dame last year). The other thing BYU can't do is turn it over. They have to be no worse than -1 in the turnover battle to have any shot.
Right now, my belief in Taysom and Bronco is stronger than my disbelief in BYU's OL and Gary and Ludwig, so I'm picking the Cougs to win, in a hard fought, close game that some would describe as ugly. This is the week Adam Hine takes one back, and that ends up being the difference in the game. Cougs by 4.

I would indicate Gary learned from Whit and Whit has a way of shutting down BYU offenses. However, I then would get attacked by the I hate Utah so much I can't be objective crowd and my feelings would get hurt.Originally posted by YOhio View PostGary's Aggie D held Taysom to one touchdown last year. Granted, it was a completely different offense and only Taysom's second start.

We generally match up well against big physical teams that like to pound the football. However I am not sure we have the d-line depth that we did in years past. Like you said we may see Marques and Eathyn in the middle with Bronson on one side and Peck on the other. Our speed will keep Wiscy from getting to the edge and take away the long runs. But we will need Beck and Unga to come up big in this game. I feel more comfortable with Hadley and Unga in the middle and Fua and KVN on the outside. I also expect Sorenson to come down in the box a lot for this game.Originally posted by Sizzle View PostThis game is very interesting to me. He should be good to go. He said the bye week helped. He did say he wasn't sure how many plays he would get though. Everyone should be healthy and ready to go except Falslev.Originally posted by Blueintheface View PostHas his status for the game been confirmed?"Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

I definitely agree on feeling better with Hadley and Unga in the middle opposed to Beck. My guess is we see a lot of linebacker rotation. I also worry about our DL depth, and think that may be the difference.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostWe generally match up well against big physical teams that like to pound the football. Like I said, Sorenson in the box worries me because it likely means man coverage over the top without safety help. Our corners deserve credit as they've been solid for the majority of the year, but I don't like them matched up in one on one coverage, especially against Jared Abbrederis. He's averaging 17 YPC this year with 6 TDs. As a team though, their run game is just filthy. 344 carries, 2,296 yards, 26 TDs and a 6.7 per carry average. I don't know how you don't commit to stopping the run bringing Sorenson down and leave your corners in single coverage.
