Final resolution on Wong. Teaching license suspended for 18 months. I hope it all works out for him in the long run.

By the way, Wong's replacement (Whit's brother Cary Whittingham) is doing an outstanding job. Timpview is playing far better than last year. They came within a missed field goal of beating the top 5A team this year (Alta) and they beat last year's 5A champions (Lone Peak) on the road. Last Friday they were up 48-0 at halftime over Mountain View. Defense is terrific and the offense is really clicking. They have a senior QB who was 11-12 with 5 TDs in the first half on Friday (the lone miss was a drop). His name is Jake Lloyd and he is the younger brother of PG's Dallas Lloyd who is at Standford. He is having an outstanding year. Wants to go to Harvard or Yale, but I suspect he will get attention from all over if he keeps this up.

I realize I'm nitpicking here, but that honor actually belongs to Jordan. That said, Alta has a chance to take it away this week as they play each other this Friday.

I was basing it on the DNews rankings:

My kids are. But I have no bias in favor of Jordan. They just happen to have the best QB in the state and in my opinion that makes them the best team. I think they beat Alta by at least two TDs this week.

I'll take this opportunity to pat myself on the back - Jordan ended up beating Alta 36-24 (they won their game last week 56-0) - and to mention that Jordan plays St John Bosco of California this Friday at Rio Tinto Stadium. Bosco has won their four games this year by scores of 57-7, 54-7, 61-8, and 45-0, but the school recently found out they had an ineligible player, self reported it and consequently has forfeited all four games, bringing their record to 0-4. Regardless, they appear to be a dominant football team and a big time challenge for Utah's top team.

                  Nice call, SMR.

You going to the game? Aren't there two games like that this weekend?

Yes, I will be there. Jordan is as good offensively as any team this state has seen in recent years and it should be interesting to see how they stack up against a dominant team from out of state.

I'm not aware of the other game if there are indeed two.

                      Alta is playing also.

Well, this was a great game. Jordan had SJB on the ropes, 4 and 7 at the 25 yard line, no timeouts with 55 seconds to play, Jordan up 33-27. SJB converted and scored a TD on the play, made the XP and won the game 34-33. The difference in the game - SJB missed one extra point, Jordan missed two.

                            Timpview stripped of title,

More trouble for the already troubled football program at Timpview High School in Provo. The school has now been stripped of a title.
Last year's trophies for the team's Region 8 football title and their seven wins will be revoked after principals in the region met and found Timpview won those because of an ineligible player.

The player was found ineligible because of a mistake in paperwork. The player transferred from Timpview to Westlake High School in Saratoga Springs back to Timpview. The paperwork for the player apparently was not filled out properly, making him ineligible.

That same player is playing for Timpview this year and is eligible because everything has been cleared away as it should.
That is a ridiculous response to a paperwork error.

Yeah, seemed like a overreaction to a filing error.
