Is it basically "open borders" in Utah? That would be nuts if so.
In Texas there is no problem moving in the summer. I have seen families move because their kids weren't getting enough playing time or would get more D1 exposure at some larger 5A school.

The whole charter school thing in Utah seems kind of screwy to me.

My understanding is that there is open enrollment as long students within the boundaries don't exceed the enrollment limit. Once you have chosen a school, transferring isn't allowed for athletic reasons. I'm not sure if there is an exception if your family lives in the boundaries of the school where you want to transfer.

Yes it is. But the Rockwall HS one I posted is on the smallish side so we have a couple of extremes.

I think the price tag on the Allen stadium was like $60M. Put in perspective, that's twice what BYU paid for the IPF and SAC (granted 10 years ago but still).

Oh, Rockwall ISD also has an IPF. Had it long before BYU. Gotta keep the boys out of the summer heat you know.

Summer heat caused me to quit football. Two a days were just brutal in August in Dallas. This was in the old days, when coaches would withhold going to the watering trough (literally) until you got a play right. And if you got it wrong, he'd say, one more time. Get it wrong again, you're running timed sprints. Only if you beat the time, could you get water. A few times, no one got water until practice ended. After one of those practices, I decided to let my knee injury grow in importance and went to play hoops.

Seemed like every year we lived there a kid died in football practice from the heat. Crazy.

The more I dig into this, the more I think this is a hatchet job. I will be shocked if Wong keeps his job, but this isn't nearly as sinister as it has been reported. For example, one of the issues they raised was that Wong held on to donations for several days instead of instantly depositing them, per district policy. But Wong says that the donation in question happened during the summer during a period when the school offices were closed. On the morning of the day they opened, he went in and made the deposit. They also have been making a big deal about using school funds to pay for a plane ticket for the principal's wife to Atlanta. The principal now says that the tickets were ordered together as part of a package deal and that he immediately reimbursed the school for his wife's ticket.

                  What a circus.

Sounds like someone has an ax to grind with Timpview/Wong.

A family member was a starting WR for Timpview for two championships and loves the guy. Would be sad if the hatchet job succeeds.

What's strange about it as that none of his expenses seem to be submitted fraudulently. They might have been outside the reimbursement policy, but I didn't see anything necessarily fraudulent. If his boss approves it, it's on the boss. If I work for a company, and take my buddies out to lunch, and turn in the receipt to my boss and say "I took my buddies out to lunch, here's the receipt", and the boss approves it, who gets in trouble? In companies I've worked for, the boss would be in trouble.

I wonder if X had come to Utah if he'd have been there now.

My Brothers went to Timpview and would nearly die for Wong, its really hard on them. I really like the guy.

I went to PG, but I did think it was funny how the boundaries for Timpview were cut, with the rich north side of Provo and the Polynesian poor side on the south (the middle goes to Provo)... my brothers drove past Provo High everyday on their way to school. But I didn't mind it, all the donor money gave my bro's great facilities and opportunity for playing in College.

But I figured someday somebody would blow whatever whistle they could find on what has been one of the most dominant programs in the State for years.

Yeah, i can't believe the system in UT works the way it does...it doesn't work that way in texas for a reason...you actually have to live within the boundaries of whatever school for which you play.
