#1. The kid did have an offer and committed to Cal under Tedford who was able to bring in talent at Cal. Look at the track record Tedford has of putting guys into the NFL.

#2. He is a legacy kid of a non LDS player who did great things at BYU and has very fond memories of his time at BYU. If we could burn a schollie on a kid like Rhen Brown (Did not even start his Senior Year), I am sure we can take a chance on Torry McTyer.

I think this would be great in continuing to forge strong relationships with exBYU Football players that are not LDS. I worry that we forget the impact these guys have made to our program.
    Yes.

We could use another four year corner as well.
Will donate kidney for B12 membership.

      • Was checking out Trammell's profile on Scout and it says he had offers from Utah and Boise St. But the big drama was his decision between BYU and New Mexico.

Is it realistic that a kid w/ offers from Utah and BSU is seriously considering New Mexico?

Utah dropped Trammel when they flipped Orpney(sp?)
"The first thing I learned upon becoming a head coach after fifteen years as an assistant was the enormous difference between making a suggestion and making a decision."

"They talk about the economy this year. Hey, my hairline is in recession, my waistline is in inflation. Altogether, I'm in a depression."

That makes sense. The fact that Utah was genuinely interested in him makes me a bit more confident in his abilities.

BYU is taking Sam Lee, a juco db that no one wanted because we need bodies at the position. I have no problem taking Torry Mctyre. Brandon Howard would look pretty good on the roster right now, if you ask me.

I hope Lee turns out to be great but it is a crapshoot. Preston Hadley didn't have an impressive list of suitors out of Snow, he picked BYU over Washington State, New Mexico State and Kent State.

Brian Logan, lost his offer from San Diego State and picked BYU over a really bad Utah State program.

Those guys turned out well, but on the other hand some of their more sought after jucos have bombed. Lee Agguire comes to mind. Tico Pringle

              • You can't even make that name up, Tico Pringle.

I'd argue Preston Hadley is one of the best we've had in years. He rarely got beat. Very underrated.

I want them to offer McTyre as well.

                    Did he commit to Utah?
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

He committed to Utah, then went on a trip to ASU, at which point Utah picked up another JuCo OT (Andrew Albers) and cut Wesley loose. On the trip, ASU apparently decided to rescind his offer, so suddenly he went from 2 BCS offers to none.

Well, now he's back up to one now that BYU has offered.

FYI, didn't intend the BCS comment as a shot at BYU, was using it more to just mean good offers. Obviously, BYU is a good offer, at least if you're OK with the honor code.

                              I was just joking around.

I hope we get him. We need to get better on the lines.
