  • Offered an OL for '14

BYU offers Cali 2014 O-Lineman prospect Damien Mama. Mama is LDS and holds BYU as one of his top schools. -Talo Steves
Apparently BYU is running an experiment to see if you can have success fielding an OL-type at every position.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

Has the O-line been our main offensive problem over the past 2 years? If so, this seems like great news. If not, maybe they are going to use some guys on the DL?

      • No, I'm glad they're looking to overhaul the OL. It's just getting to be a crazy number for '13 at this point and for '14 their early targeting seems to be on more OL.

        • Yeah it seems like if we even had a serviceable OL we'd be kicking ass. I can't think of one weakness on offense next year at the skill positions. I guess Taysom and the TE's are a question mark, but not really.

          • So I'm following this whole thing with McTyer's kid. He was a Cal commit but they left him High and Dry approaching signing day. McTyer's been on twitter saying that he'd cry if he ended up at BYU he'd be so happy (also mentioned some intention of going back to BYU to finish his degree).

Not sure if BYU would offer at this point, but he's got decent size for a corner (though could use some weight) and based on the clip I saw last night some serious speed. It would also be nice to have a four-year corner in this class. I guess part of his issue at Cal was academics, so I don't know where that would leave him with BYU.

I can't remember who, but someone on this board who is pretty well connected maintains academics is not an issue when it comes to keeping kids out of BYU.

              • Sounds like Poppinga has been in contact. This could be a good development.

                • We need legacy kids to come.

This would be a good thing.

If it makes Tim McTyer cry, I stand arms locked with him to promise that I too will cry. I am a mormon RM. I learned to cry on cue. I am a crying warrior, hear my growl!

I think there are some more Locket's at KSU and we need somebody to shove that ass out of bounds before he can get his feet down.

This would be a fun development to an otherwise boring recruiting year!

                    • This thing is getting a lot of pub. I wonder how many other programs are going to also pounce on this kid now?

For the record. My son is better, bigger taller, faster and more skilled than I was as a Sr. In HS. Not the hitter I was. But Many will nvrB

I'm going to assume this is some sort of BYU-to-Big-12 smoke and start planning road trips accordingly.

Also, it's only appropriate that a reply to a Goatnapper post was my 69th post on this site.

I got connections with KSU folks. No joke, my wife's younger sister's married name is DUNN!

You, me and '71 are going to party big time in the lil' Apple. We will bring great honors, respects, glories and lauds to the name JIMBOFUCKINGMCMAHON!
