So you didn't play football? Check.

If this gets the BYU team/equipment manager to fix that helmet problem, this will be a good thing. That was absolutely ridiculous last year.

It'll be interesting to see how BYU handles this. Their helmets pop off constantly, more so than any other team I've seen.

Edit: Oh dear I've said the same thing as everyone else.

Stupid rule IMO. This just means that BYU will need Munns ready to go every play.

No, I didn't. Did you? What does that have to do with this rule?

Won't his helmet pop off? how many times a game did Riley's helmet pop off? Maybe 3? So he sits out three plays?

Are they going to issue him a new helmet between plays?

The assumption here is that without this rule, teams would not try to correct the problem. How long has this been an issue? It seems like it is only recently that helmets have popped off at a remarkable rate, yet there has never been such a punitive rule. Why are helmets coming off more now? Is it because last season teams all over the country decided to issue ill-fitting helmets? That doesn't seem probable. Was there a design change in helmets or a new manufacturer? That seems more probable.

It's because players aren't tightening their chin straps like they used to.

Who cares about the helmet rule. The touchback rule is terrible. You move kickoffs up to the 35 and then touchbacks are now placed at the 25?

Makes no sense to penalize teams 5 yards for kicking it in to the endzone.

Are they trying to get fewer kicks returned? It seemed like they are concerned with injuries on kickoffs.

                              Amen. That rule is stupid.

Most VBIED's don't have the driver sitting inside like a typical suicide bomber. They detonate them remotely when they think they will be the most effective.

I think the new rule encourages the players to wear their gear correctly or they have to come off the field.
