Tell us more. What's Cuch doing to force this change? (And which change are you talking about - the logo or the Ute nickname?) Inquiring minds want to know!“There is a great deal of difference in believing something still, and believing it again.”

Shoganai, ignore LA Ute. He is upset that his sources are wrong and yours are right.Originally posted by LA Ute View PostTell us more. What's Cuch doing to force this change? I just want to know what his sources are saying. He has important inside information from the Ute tribe, which is appearing right here on CUF first. The public has a right to know, and Lebowski should enjoy credit for providing the place for the scoop.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostShoganai, ignore LA Ute. Gee, is it the: a) hockey puck with the Yale Bulldog; b) goatee; c) garb never before worn by the Cougar Marching Band (including face painting) or d) your poor trolling history that gives this picture away as a non-BYU student and likely a Yalie?Originally posted by LA Ute View PostHere's a guy all facepainted for a Y football game:

Of course, in his case the Y is Yale, which has the same colors as BYU and the same "Y" symbol, but happens to have been founded 174 years before the Provo campus. BYU's founding fathers evidently liked the blue and white colors and using a "Y" as their school's symbol.
Despite the inclination to vote, d, I'd say a is the obvious choice.

Same with Miami (OH), even down to Swoop.Originally posted by MarkGrace View Posthttp://www.cougarboard.com/board/mes...tml?id=7994898
Who knows if Shoganai is correct, but if he is, Utah even steals its mascot changes. In 1999 the Seattle University Chieftains became the Redhawks. Would Utah have gone with that if it wasn't already taken?

Yes, son, that's, um, the point. It is a Yalie, sporting the colors and "Y" symbol BYU's early enthusiasts borrowed from Yale. You finance guys just never can appeciate ironies, can you? Happy to spell this one out for you, though.

No, we all get it. BYU stole the Yale "Y" and look how cute it is to show someone whom you assumed we might mistake for a BYU student. Except that not a single Y grad on God's green earth would think that guy could be a real life BYU student.Originally posted by LA Ute View Post

And, I was an Econ grad, not a finance guy. I, like most other BYU econ grads, know how to do finance without a calculator

Of course, this couldn't possibly have anything to do with it.Originally posted by LA Ute View PostHere's a guy all facepainted for a Y football game:

[ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Y_Mountain"]Y Mountain - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame]Professor Ernest D. Partridge was assigned to conduct a survey and designed the emblem. When this was complete, a line of high school and university students, and some faculty, passed buckets of lime, sand, and rocks up the mountain in order to fill up the letters. After six hours of hard labor, only the Y had been completed, so the filling in of the remaining two letters was postponed and later abandoned.Dio perdona tante cose per un’opera di misericordia
