    No more drum and feather?

The University of Utah says goodbye to the drum and feather

One of the grandest benefits of the enlightenment was the realization that our moral sense must be based on the welfare of living individuals, not on their immortal souls. Honest and passionate folks can strongly disagree regarding spiritual matters, so it's imperative that we not allow such considerations to infringe on the real happiness of real people.

Dirk Facer just tweeted, that a decision hasn't been made yet. They evaluate the logo every year.

But, it's probably only a matter of time till it's (and the Utes nickname) is gone.

I'm sure this is all the Pac-12, well except for the fact that Utah has been moving towards eliminating the drum and feather logo for a good 10 years.

What about it takes 10 years? Serious question. Are you just talking about a softening of attitudes towards keeping it, or have there been some substantive steps taken?
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

Getting rid of the Utes name? Seems like there's this big movement for a bunch of sports teams to get rid of the tribal names.

The hypersensitive white idiots outside of Utah have been trying for years to force the U to drop the Utes nickname and get rid of the drum and feather. As long as the Ute tribe has no problem with this, the U needs to tell all of these ninnies to shut the hell up.

Yet in one year the Pac 12 helps you accomplish something you couldnt do on your own in 10.

The Pac 12 is very powerful.

                      New nickname preferences....

I like "the Crimson", already have the Crimson Club so makes some sense. Would be awesome if they also adopted an elephant mascot.

I think 12ers has to be considered.

I can see them going with some version of RedHawks.

But most of all, would prefer they be able to keep the Utes as it seems like everyone I know will still refer to them as the Utes, regardless of what it changes to.

Ditch a nickname altogether and let one arise over time.
