How does KVN game winning sack, recovery, TD not make the top 10? I would have put it 2nd (though a better play than the pump fake TD, the game was even more insignificant than Armed Forces Bowl).

I can't think of any "great" corners that are very recent. I can think of some serviceable ones, but not great ones.

When I think of great corners, I think back to guys like Brian Mitchell or Derwin Gray. Omar Morgan and Tim McTyre were a pretty good combo. But as I'm sure many a Ute fan will point out - BYU is not really known for corners.

I agree with this. Had he been a bit taller, he would have had a shot in the NFL. He had the rest, dude was just too short.

Agreed. And if he was 6', he wouldn't be a BYU alumni.

Eddie mentioned Dewey Gray. Wasn't he a FS at BYU? I know he was in the pros.

I'll always have a soft spot for Omar Morgan. A great corner but he came from a great stock. My car broke down on the way to the '96 WAC championship game and Omar's parents picked the 3 of us up despite having a full car already. The 8 of us, crammed into a late 70's Cadillac, rode the rest of the way to the stadium together (If any of you made the trip and didn't happen to leave 4 hours before kickoff you might remember how awful the drive in was). We missed the entire 1st quarter.

A guy in the car in front of us leaned out the window and began throwing up his pre-game festivities. I still remember Omar's mom's response: "Is that white-boy vomiting?"

His interception against KSU was a direct result of his parent's good works, of that I'm sure.

I thought the RM transfer from AFA (Haney? Harney?) was fantastic, but he could never stay healthy. He gets my vote as BYU's best RM CB of all time.

I'm excited to see what the defense can do this year. The DL looks very good- Dulan, Manumaleuna, Tialavea (hopefully in good form), Fuga, Richardson... should be fun.

It will be good to see OC at DB too. He is very athletic- hopefully he has found a good spot on the field. He's big and fast and based on his kick returns doesn't shy away from contact. That could be a devastating combination for WRs.

LB should also be great. I hope Ansah has football figured out. I haven't heard much about his learning progress. He has all the tools to be drafted other than a good sense of where the play is going and how he can disrupt it. I hope that's something he can be taught. Hopefully Stout is also impressive. We've waited long enough. Kaveinga and Ogletree are studs. I'm not sold on Hadley yet- he seemed to never quite get in a good rhythm.

On offense, I'm hoping that an entire season with an OC who was once a mobile QB can yield good play design for a mobile QB. If rumors of an up-tempo offense are true, that's a great start. Then just get Riley out of the pocket and let him make plays. The DL won't be able to keep up with him, so defenses will have to cheat to contain him. With big, fast receivers and hopefully good pass-catching TEs roaming around, he should be productive if he can keep his eyes downfield.

Can't wait.

I didn't know Heaney was an RM. I think Air Force had him pegged to be a qb
