"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

2nd best time lapse I've seen in the last week!
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

        Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Very nice move by the players.
If he makes it through the season, this will be the last season of BYU football he watches.

Friel named starter at TE. Matthews apparently moved to WR because of concerns about depth there. Didn't realize we had a depth issue at WR.

The depth issue is that we have a lot of young, inexperienced WRs, who aren't as reliable as Mathews.

I actually think this is a good development at least along the TE front. I don't think the back up wrs sucked as much as Mathews is just better and understands the offense. I am hoping that Friel has taken the position and the coaches believe that when Mahina returns healthy those two, along with Wilson as a flex type TE, will be more than fine but Mathews needs to be on the field. My guess is barring injury we see very little wrs beyond Hoffman, Apo and Falslev. A little Collie and Marcus Mathews but I think those 3 with Mathews the Older will see 90% of the reps when it matters.

I also hope Austin Holt redshirts and moves to DE.

Nelson planned the whole damn thing!

"I fully understand the business and the nature of college football," Nelson said. "It's cutthroat. It's competitive, and sometimes you're the guy that gets picked, and sometimes you're the guy that gets left out. There's nothing really that you can do about it."
It turns out that last sentence is not true. Nelson did something about it. What he did won back the job as BYU starting quarterback.

I can't get excited for this team. Part of me is certain we will not be a very good team. I have little faith in Nelson and no faith in Doman. I think our defense will be solid but not spectacular. Basically, I expect to be very "blah" about this team and this season. Someone convince me that our offense will move the ball on the ground with Doman as the coach. Hell, someone convince me that our offense will move the ball at all. Last year's debacle did nothing but convince me that Doman was not ready to be an OC.

If there is one thing Riley proved he could do last year, it was move the chains. To hell with Doman. Riley will move the ball regardless of the play calling. It's what makes him so effective - he can improvise through the air and on the ground and I don't think Byu has had a qb since Detmer who despises punting as much as Riley.
