None of this makes any sense to me. I've been led to believe BYU football is a well known and respected national brand.

It is, and frankly we are all more than a little tired of you, Big Micking our mojo*.

If you've been to sports bars, then you would know that you're wrong about people thinking Utah and BYU are the same thing. Try a sports bar that doesn't serve a chardonnay.

I don't give a shit about any of this. The only thing I worry about is BYU burning bridges and it coming back to bite them in the ass scheduling wise.

Even in the midst of a great stroke of good fortune Utah fails to allow a tradition to develop, opting instead to try and manufacture it by popular vote or out right theft.

Give it some time and think about it some more, then it will make sense.

                  This was a true story.
                  Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

That doesn't mean they confuse or conflate the two schools.

Again, it doesn't mean they think Utah and BYU are the same school. I might confuse whether a player went to Stanford or Cal. It doesn't mean I thought they were the same thing.

I am confused now. I almost wonder if SU didn't support my argument knowing everyone would rabidly disagree with him.

If so that would be a brilliant piece of trolling.

Sure if they stopped and thought about it for a second they know that I went to BYU and this was Utah, but they know me as the Mormon dude from Utah and so there isn't much distinction between the schools in their minds.
Yeah, I encounter that all the time when I travel. "Isn't BYU in Salt Lake City?" "Are there any other universities in Utah?" "What's the difference between BYU and Utah?" Stuff like that.

There was a flub on the electronic sign at the 2005 Fiesta Bowl that listed one of the participants as the Utah State Aggies.
