I don't know if it iS intentional, but the men in charge are strangling the life out of BYU's most well known and beloved sport.
Indepedence is not very intriguing and the late season schedule is a sandwich w/o the bacon. A golden opportunity to make the big jump was likely blown, and now when a bronze or copper opportunity is offered it is going to get screwed up as well.
The pain of watching this multi-episode debacle get played out is excruciating. I love our mediocre football team and just keep day dreaming that something great, or even good to fair will happen to improve our lot, but at every turn BYU seems to foil itself.
The BigEast certainly isn't a great situation, but my gut tells me that we are on the slow boat to irrelevance without anyone at the wheel who cares or is capable of changing the course.
20 years from now we will be like Utah State fans talking about how competitive the Aggies were right before they were abandoned by BYU and Utah. I hate it, but there doesn't seem to be a more likely outcome.
