  • BYU Football - A slow death

I don't know if it iS intentional, but the men in charge are strangling the life out of BYU's most well known and beloved sport.

Indepedence is not very intriguing and the late season schedule is a sandwich w/o the bacon. A golden opportunity to make the big jump was likely blown, and now when a bronze or copper opportunity is offered it is going to get screwed up as well.

The pain of watching this multi-episode debacle get played out is excruciating. I love our mediocre football team and just keep day dreaming that something great, or even good to fair will happen to improve our lot, but at every turn BYU seems to foil itself.

The BigEast certainly isn't a great situation, but my gut tells me that we are on the slow boat to irrelevance without anyone at the wheel who cares or is capable of changing the course.

20 years from now we will be like Utah State fans talking about how competitive the Aggies were right before they were abandoned by BYU and Utah. I hate it, but there doesn't seem to be a more likely outcome.

I fear that BYU has gotten greedy with this whole thing. They appear to want the AQ conference/money and keep their own tv deal at the same time. I'm not sure why a conference would say yes to that, unless BYU agreed to take a reduced share of the TV revenues.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

I would hope that they would agree to at least be able to rebroadcast/stream old games on BYUtv.com but I have a feeling that BYU thinks they have more to negotiate with than they really do.

Not a chance will our partners and best friends ESPN and Notre Dame let that happen. No how no way.

I think some at BYU have become so enamored with our poop that they are no longer are able to distinguish poop from something that is actually desirable, or at least a little less stinky.

You both have neglected to mention that the Big Guy himself is fully invested in BYU athletics.

Clint Walker? A BYU fan? Interesting.

Sometimes groups of people use gallows humor amongst themselves to help them cope with frustrations. It can be very therapeutic and help bring a different perspective. But when an outsider in a better situation walks in and uses the same humor to point out their pathetic state, well, he should be punched in the face and kicked in the nuts.

Being an outsider, does this mean outsiders should view Utah as the Mormon school, with banner waving high?

When does BYU intend to close its athletic doors?
"Guitar groups are on their way out, Mr Epstein."

Upon rejecting the Beatles, Dick Rowe told Brian Epstein of the January 1, 1962 audition for Decca, which signed Brian Poole and the Tremeloes instead.

People from my circle have already thought that for years.
