Just saw this on Drudge:

Things are going to get ugly. Not that I feel sorry for Sandusky. But I hope someone doesn't get in trouble with the law and ruin their life by doing something rash. It wouldn't be a good trade. I hope everyone can just wait until he gets his 400+ year sentence.

The more I read, the more I think McQueary might be an evil person, not the confused kid he seemed to be painted to be when this story broke.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostMcQueary has been placed in protective custody according to Penn State players which he spoke with. I'm curious as to where the threats are coming from. Are they from people angry that he did nothing or are they from people angry that JoePa got fired and are blaming McQueary.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostMcQueary has been placed in protective custody according to Penn State players which he spoke with. Sadly, it's probably somewhere in the middle.Originally posted by CJF View PostI'm curious as to where the threats are coming from. Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

"That's the first thing people look at -- that their football team is without their head coach that's been there so many years. Nobody looks at the eight children."
The rioters are "never going to be in those children's shoes. It's not about football. It's about eight children who are never going to get back their lives back. They're going to live with this the rest of their lives. They might not get over that."

You have got to be kidding. That was the clincher for you?Originally posted by Jacob View PostI wasn't aware of the continued close relationship between Sandusky and the program. If he was always around, and especially scouting, recruiting, etc, then I'll go ahead and more fully condemn Paterno and McQueery like the rest of you.
It appears that you still don't get it. I suggest you carefully read this blog post linked earlier by LA Ute. This breaks it down as simply as possible:

Read points 1-4 and then tell me why in the hell it matters whether or not Sandusky continued in an official relationship with the university."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

I understand many of you seem bent on piling on Jacob but, we still do not have a full picture of all the details and your derision is misplaced. He is not foolish for being cautious and his lack of awareness is not as appalling as you seem to want to make it out to be. In general, we are woefully uniformed on how to deal with such circumstances. Which is unfathomable to me because sexual abuse is so pervasive in our society.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostYou have got to be kidding. That was the clincher for you?

There is no excuse for Paterno or McQueery but, by the same measure there is no excusing the institution, as well as the community. Penn State university and the city of State College enabled and empowered Paterno's regime. This is an incredibly tragic situation and we would all do well to be more careful about what we say about anyone involved, even Sandusky. His actions are indefensible. However, speaking as a 'survivor' vitriol in any form, directed at any one is not helpful. It will only feed an unquenchable flame that will burn inside the victims for the remainder of their days.Last edited by tooblue; 11-11-2011, 08:22 PM.
