Yes. I don't think there is any question.Originally posted by HuskyFreeNorthwest View PostDoes canceling the press conf 10 minutes before it is supposed to start signal that they are trying to figure out how to let Paterno go as gracefully as possible?"They're good. Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

Yes. Either that or Paterno doesn't want to face any questions about what's being reported.Originally posted by HuskyFreeNorthwest View PostDoes canceling the press conf 10 minutes before it is supposed to start signal that they are trying to figure out how to let Paterno go as gracefully as possible?"Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance and the gospel of envy; its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." - Winston Churchill

This is a point that I haven't seen made yet, and is very fair. Plenty of blame is being put on Paterno for simply passing the info along, as it should be IMO. However what about the kid more worried about his coaching future?Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostExactly. That is something very troubling about this story and it's hard to know what to make of it. A graduate assistant, probably recently graduated form playing DI football, sees a kid being raped by a middle aged man in a locker room at Penn State, and runs away (albeit horrified?)? Why wasn't he physically attacking the abuser, condemning him, and yelling for help?
If I saw Hulk Hogan* raping someone I would do my best to intervene and bring attention or help to the victim.
*This is not an allegation of Mr. Hogan being a sexual predator.Get confident, stupid

SeattleUte (and apparently kccougar) were wrong.Originally posted by Coach McGuirk View PostNYT reporting Paterno will not be back next year.
Adios, JoePa. We don't need to wait for the grand jury to work itself out. Your failure was not a legal one. And it was obvious to clear thinking people that you blew it in a major way.
More heads will roll over this. I don't get why there is an effort to ensure JoePa goes out "gracefully." what for? I'm not even sure what that means. He needs to answer questions.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

They might be blowing smoke, but Paterno was reportedly ready to address the scandal in his weekly presser and his son is trying to set something up off campus.Originally posted by il Padrino Ute View PostEither that or Paterno doesn't want to face any questions about what's being reported."They're good. Will JoePa attend his own news conference or will he go up to the top of the stadium and watch it from there?
My guess is that JoePa cites to his years of work as a coach, reference his wife by name, and express more shock. none of these things exonerate his inaction when told that a guy was naked in the shower with a kid, but he will mention them nonetheless.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

If it's a thin blue line Penn State will probably just disregard it.Originally posted by Hot Lunch View PostLooks like JoePa's son is trying to set up an off-campus press conference so JoePa can speak.

Article on two of the victims, and how they felt when they read the grand jury report. They are now about 21 and 24.
The story emphasizes how alone the boys and their mothers felt. They thought they were the only victims. They worried that no one would believe them. They knew how powerful Sandusky was. It wasnt until they read the Report that they realized that other victims had come forward to tell their stories to the grand jury.

And is now the receiver coach with full consent of Mr. Paterno. Any who defend Mr. Paterno lack moral courage.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostExactly.
