Students holding a rally at Joe-Pa's house...which goes to show students will rally for anything. I bet the occupy wall street rallies at state college took a hit.

The more I read, the more it sounds like there were a lot of people who minimized this or looked the other way. After reading this, I wonder if any law enforcement types will lose their jobs, or worse, over this. It sounds like there is a long history of questionable behavior on the part of Sandusky without much being done. How so many people who seemed to have some degree of knowledge allowed him to continue to access young boys is despicable. the whole thing makes me sick."In conclusion, let me give a shout-out to dirty sex. Yeah, this guy needs to be strung up. He better not work another day in football anywhere in any capacity. One of the victim's mother puts it very well:Originally posted by Viking View PostWhy didn't the grad assistant call the police??? Actually, first beat Sandusky senseless with a broom, then call the police. Good grief, this is worse than SMU by a factor of infinity.
Said another mother of a victim to the newspaper: “I don’t even have words to talk about the betrayal that I feel. Actually, this has been 3D's obsession and subtext all along. however, I will continue to highlight when you, the purpurted lover of empiricism and rationality, engages in rank speculation.Originally posted by woot View PostYou doing ok, SU? I suppose this isn't out of character, but your insistence on trying to make this discussion about other posters seems weird. Maybe it's just the horrific nature of the case that makes these attempts seem especially petty.

lol Tone Loc responds to woot purporting to agree and then making his post about the poster.Originally posted by Tone Loc View PostNo kidding. Mr. Seattle Ute,Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostActually, it seems to me the easy thing to do right now is condemn Paterno.
Easy or not, and despite your efforts to engage in sophistry, I suspect that you know in your heart what is wrong and right about this sordid affair. It remains to be seen what you will do about that personal moral choice.
I apologize if my comments seem personal - I will withdraw from further participation in this forum as I find it deplorable to spend time time arguing about a process more concerned with perpetrators and their defenders than with restoration of innocent victims.
Respectfully,

I had a discussion with a couple of state employees today. One thing I found interesting is that both claimed that if they witnessed this or had it reported to them they would be fired if they went to the police. They are contractually obligated to take it directly to their boss and not allowed to mention anything to anyone else. I argued that JoePa would not be fired for going to the police. And if he did get fired he would win the public relations war and probably a hefty law suit against PSU. Still, it does give me a little of perspective of the GA.A man who views the world the same at fifty as he did at twenty has wasted thirty years of his life. - Mohammad Ali

No way. Even if it were true, no way. No way that even crosses your mind unless you are a useless POS coward which this GA appears to be. Even if you froze initially from the shock of it, no way do you just let it drop.Originally posted by CJF View PostI had a discussion with a couple of state employees today. SU knows he is on the wrong side of this, but his arrogance won't allow him to admit it.Originally posted by woot View PostYou doing ok, SU? This condemnation of Penn State includes this paragraph:
Let's see SU's defense of Penn State now.Earlier this year, journalist Lisa Davis wrote "The Sins of Brother Curtis," a painful, difficult and necessary book on sexual predator Frank Curtis and his serial molestation of children over decades. Curtis was allowed to operate within the framework of the Mormon Church both through Penn State-like negligence and, more disturbingly, through the church's belief that placing him around children, despite his crimes, was essential to Curtis' religious salvation. As Curtis' deviations grew more pronounced, the Church of Latter-day Saints mirrored the response of Curley and Schultz and Spanier and Paterno. The church used its power to crush accountability, and its impulse was to protect the brand instead of the children. Many of those abuse victims ended up with lifelong drug and legal problems, their lives just a broken bottle on the side of the freeway, receiving about as much regard from the LDS.

Except the GA didn't do that. He told his superior (JoePa) and then told someone else (his dad). It also assumes that the GA was similarly bound and also was aware of such a contractual clause, which seems highly unlikely.Originally posted by CJF View PostI had a discussion with a couple of state employees today. I would ask the state employees you know for more info on their purported restriction to not disclose sexual abuse or else risk being terminated.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

I am only asking questions and suggesting suspension of judgment as the. Process unfolds. Do we even know what exactly Paterno was told?
Actualy, your excerpt highlights the irony of the quick condemnations here.Last edited by SeattleUte; 11-09-2011, 06:17 AM.When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.
