And USU wasn't when the problem started. It was just when it all came to a head. Jake completely sucked. I'm guessing it was all about taking a hit - that he was scared in the pocket. I guess that could explain the complete collapse of his play. I know he could make the passes - he has an arm like a gun. But a player who can't do it in a game against moderate talent, is of no use to anyone.

    • According Chip Brown Weis may bet the Kansas farm on Heaps...

Jake Heaps, Jr., Kansas - 16 starts

Started 10 games as a freshman at BYU and the first six games as a sophomore before being replaced by Riley Nelson and ultimately transferring to KU. Heaps threw 24 TD passes with 17 INTs in his two seasons at BYU. Charlie Weis is hoping Heaps is better than ND transfer Dayne Crist, who was benched last season for ineffectiveness in his only season at KU.

I am guessing Kansas fans are looking ahead to basketball season.

After a 1-11 season in 2012, my guess is that Heaps is the least of their worries.

        • I suspect Heaps will play better than he did at BYU and be at least serviceable.

I suspect the teams success will be determined more by how the rest of the team plays. Which isn't necessarily a reason for optimism.

Maybe he stole it off SU's doorstep.

FWIW, I've always imagined that SU lives on a houseboat like Tom Hanks in Sleepless in Seattle.

I don't know, maybe, but in the world of Seattle fictional characters, isn't SU really more in the Niles Crane area?

I'm a newspaper guy, but for practical purposes take Sunday only. FYI, I'm not on twitter and bend the bill of my baseball caps.
