Kind of ironic that Heaps gets KVN, Apo, Stout and Quezada to BYU. They have all succeeded up until this point and have bright futures. Jake the one that got them here is the odd man out.
This is interesting - but I think the jury is still out on 2 of these guys.

I think Stout will be great - but we will have no idea until next year at the earliest.

I think Juice has been a bit of a disappointment this year. This comes not from looking at stats or anything rational - it comes from cringing every time he takes the hand off and something in my head tells me that he isn't going to get more than a couple of yards as a best case scenario. That alone should garner him some appreciation on the part of BYU fans, even Viking.
Sorry, PU, I was always respectful of Heaps but I have zero respect for a kid who has shown NOTHING on the field, could have buckled down, redshirted, improved and then kicked some ass and instead transfers.

      Or, in other words, quits.

I guarantee that this kid will amount to zilch in football.

Exactly. Jake Heaps brought the following players:

        Richard Wilson
        Kyle Van Noy
        Ross Apo
        Zac Stout
        Joshua Quezada

For that alone he deserves some respect on his way out.

        • if i was jake i'd probably be trying to end up at eastern washington. he would really shine there in an offense that throws 45 times a game. and ewu would give him the a much better shot at a longer football career than playing pac-12 defenses week in and week out.

          • I don't fault him for doing what's best for himself, but wonder if his judgment will prov out. He could have been a great one at BYU and I'm disappointed he won't.

Imagine Bronco's, and my, disappointment to lose fans like you. Damn you, Riley, Damn you all the way to Mesquite for costing us both Heaps and HeapsRU. Much like Wyoming of days of yore, RN will be held accountable.

I wish Quezada had redshirted this year following his fall camp injury. I hope he's back to his freshman form next year.

I do think his list of schools is curious. He's going to have a lot of competition at UW, WSU and USC. If I'm him I'm looking for the path of least resistance to starting, and I don't think he finds it at any of those schools. For me Cal is the no-brainer.

Quezada is still hampered by that ankle and I suspect will have off season surgery. It has really limited his burst. He was great as a freshman last year and I expect he will bounce back.

The fact that Stout cracked a very deep linebacker rotation as a true freshman should tell you all you need to know about his ability.

Apo broke Collies freshman touchdown record. Enough said.

KVN is the best linebacker at BYU since Kehl and might leave as the best ever.

Richard Wilson was having a good year and showing a ton of potential before the knee injury.

We owe every one of these guys to Jake.

                          • If Crist is leaving, Heaps should check out Notre Dame. They need someone ASAP.

                              Pac-12 defenses are not good.

Maybe the kid is as polished as he could get. This was one of the knocks on him coming out of HS...that he had been tutored and groomed and polished and coached from a very young age and that, perhaps, he was already a finished product.

If that's the case, then this is a story of a kid that recruited some very nice talent to BYU and then couldn't cut it himself. No reason to hate on the kid for maxing out before college.

Question: Do any of those guys decide to leave? Wasn't he particularly close to Apo and Van Noy? BYU's really worked with Van Noy, so I wouldn't see him leaving. What about Apo? He seems like he's in a position eligibility-wise to transfer and still have a nice career.
