    C'mon, Viking. You can do better than this. I'm a lot of things, but not really a moron.

    BYU never got past that stage with the Big 12. But that isn't to say that the Big 12 didn't extend an offer of what an invitation might look like - which BYU counter offered - etc. - etc.

    You can say that BYU rejected the Big 12...or you can say that the Big 12 rejected BYU. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle in that neither accepted what the other was offering.

    But Holmoe saying that an offer was never extended is just semantics. BYU and the Big 12 were in discussions. I don't know what caused them to break off. But I don't think it is a stretch to believe that BYU would've gotten an invite to the Big 12 if they had closed their eyes and just signed whatever the Big 12 was offering.

    That said - I don't know what the hang up was. If it was Sunday Play - then I won't fault BYU for not accepting the proposal that proceeded an official offer. If it was some of the other things that have been suggested, I would find that frustrating.
    You guys are crazy. You're all ready to jump off a cliff over something that seems (to me, at least) never to have happened.

    The "semantics" and "in discussions" stuff is just recycled message-board crap we've all read here and elsewhere. There really isn't any evidence to bring in here concerning the Big-12; not, at least, to the same degree we have statements, opinions, and stories filtering out regarding the Big-East.

    By all means, please correct me if I'm wrong. I'd rather see the byu in the Big-12 than in the Big-East (I've written that elsewhere).

    The whine of the persecution complex is reaching a deafening pitch around here. Let the Big-12 thing go and quit reveling in the victimhood.

    You guys are a good program. The cougs will land on their feet.

        In the party context - it is more like "I'd like to invite you to the party, if you would be willing to bring along your hot friend with you".

        Depending on the invitee and inviter, this also works if you replace hot friend with keg of beer or other such accommodation.

          To be completely honest, I'm not sure I care about conference affiliation any more. I'm kind of becoming apathetic to all of that. I suppose something could happen to get me excited, but for now I'm OK with whatever...I just don't care.

          To put things in context, this is the first year I haven't had season tickets in more than 10 years. Initially I let them drop because in past years the start times of the games have corresponded with my son's games - so it didn't make sense to buy tickets only to spend more time getting rid of them than using them.

          While I like to attend the games, I've discovered that I'm OK watching them from the comfort of my home as well. Not having to stand in line for concessions or the potty, and being able to pause now and then, are kind of nice features not available in the stadium.

          I'll still watch all the games. And I'm still excited for them to start. Yes, even when playing Idaho, Idaho St., and NMST. I watched every minute. I suppose if something happens to get me excited again, I could go back to season tickets again. But it won't happen until my son is old enough that his games aren't competing with BYU's.

          Funny thing is - this year with the late start and Friday games, there really weren't any games I would've had to miss. But I found myself not minding not being in the stadium.

            Same characters, but in different order.

            harakiri = 腹切

            seppuku = 切腹

                      Yup. And one of those orders is not used - apparently colloquially it's a word, but I've never heard it.

                        I think the nuances of Japanese character order are far more interesting than this thread at this point. Please continue:

                        How would you write: The indian in seattle is a fcuking idiot? Would character order matter?
