It's obvious that you all best stay in Memphis. Rendevous BBQ is okay, but not my favorite, but the experience is pretty good (very rude waiters). As for BBQ, I like Corky's; Interstate is good as well. If you have time, drive out to The Commissary in Germantown (just east of Memphis), which I like the best. Also try out Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken on Front Street. I remember that location as being a dive, so check your snobbery at the hotel.

Well, maybe there is something to their snobbery. Noah and I stayed at a Hampton Inn during that fateful trip to Tulsa.

Memphis is better anyway. Arrive on Friday, see the sites (don't miss the Civil Rights Museum, Sun Studios, and those dumb Peabody ducks), eat some BBQ, Beale Street Friday night, drive down early Saturday to Oxford for the pregame festivities, win game, drive back to Memphis for more food and fun (maybe even stop to see Graceland on the way back), fly back on Sunday.

We didn't either. I'm not into Elvis enough to spend that much money. Plus it looks like it's a several hour affair (the visitor's center, the airplane, the house). We just drove down, parked nearby, and walked up the street in front of the mansion (not that much of a mansion by today's standards) to the gate and back. Lot's of messages to Elvis on the wall in front of the house.

A woman I worked with remembers living near there and Elvis riding his horse and coming out to the wall to say hello to people passing by. As you know, the area has downhill significantly since those good old days.

Super 8? Do they still put the locks on the rotary dial phones? That might be a hassle that I don't want to deal with while I'm on Vay-Cay. On the other hand, I can swipe several of those small self-branded waxy bars of soap.

Oh, I have done the Graceland tour (long before I ever lived in Memphis, actually). I thought it was great. Of course, I was with my parents and I didn't have to pay for it. I meant Sun Studios. Did you ever take the Sun Studios tour? I've only been in and had a coke.
