Chow as Utah OC?!?!

Most of us are pretty comfortable with the realization that some repair to the offense is necessary. We couldn't continue in the direction we were going. If this report about Chow is true I like it that Kyle is willing to think big.Originally posted by CJF View PostThis is one thing that would make me nervous if I was a Utah fan. While I think Chow will be very successful at Utah, this move almost seems like a concession that next year will be a rebuilding year. Not exactly the way to go into a new conference. I was truly hoping Utah would go in and win their division. It would legitimize the last few years of the MWC in my opinion. Anyway, completely going in a different direction just before the end of the recruiting period is very risky. However, I don't think Utah will struggle converting spread players into pro-style players. If the OL is there and they can run the ball and protect Wynn, you really can run whatever offense you want and be successful.“There is a great deal of difference in believing something still, and believing it again.”

The only thing this means, if Utah pulls it off, is that Utah's PAC 12 membership changes everything. No way Utah takes even a step to pulling this off as an MWC team or an independent. We're seeing immediate results in recruiting, but this is a truly momentous sign, especially if it really happens, that Utah has changed for the much much better at a cellular level. When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

I definitely remember this. He was being called Carson Powlus. (ouch!)Originally posted by HuskyFreeNorthwest View PostI think Norm has the potential to be a great hire for Utah. DDD might have been too busy at work at the time to remember, but many SC fans were ready to throw in the towel on Carson Palmer. There was talent added to that 2002 SC team for sure, but Palmer took 2 years and Norm had turned him from hyped recruit washing out to #1 overall pick.
Wynn shows signs of being a very good QB, now add Langi into the mix, maybe a WR or two. 2012 could be a very good offensive year for Utah, assuming no mission for Harvey.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

No, we are getting $2 million next year but that just replaces the $2 million we are losing by joining the PAC in 2011 instead of 2012. We're no richer than we were before, yet.Originally posted by camleish View Postor just that they have a shitload more money“There is a great deal of difference in believing something still, and believing it again.”

I sat next to Dave Schramm at a Jazz game a year or two ago at least I'm fairly certain it was him. He has young children, correct? He and his family were head to tow in Ute gear and we actually spoke during the game. Seemed like a nice enough guy. My rods and cones were messed up afterwards though.Originally posted by Top Ute View PostYes, but it beats Schramm's fate, which I've heard is quite tenuous right now.

Cal just picked up a new ~$750M fuels reasearch contract, and are looking for partners. Will the association with Cal make the U richer? YOU BET it will!Originally posted by Blueintheface View PostYour association with Cal Berkeley makes you rich beyond your wildest imagination. No wait, that's the hemp talking.
When I was at the U, the engineering program brought in huge money. The University of Utah as a whole brought in nearly HALF A BILLION DOLLARS ($450,614,999 total) in research funds last year.
Sports money is small potatoes.
