If he still has time left on his UCLA contact, depending on they buyout, UCLA would pay some of his salary (unless he just resigns).

So that $500,000 is factored into the $750,000 - $900,000? That's confusing.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostIf he still has time left on his UCLA contact, depending on they buyout, UCLA would pay some of his salary (unless he just resigns).
Maybe there's this dance going on with UCLA, UCLA hoping Chow resigns and Chow hoping UCLA fires him.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

I'd be excited if I were a Ute fan. My only concern for BYU is how Chow's hiring affects recruiting Polynesian kids to BYU. I could be wrong, but I got the sense that he understands Polynesian culture well and he is able to reel kids in.Jesus wants me for a sunbeam.

There could well be a dance going on. His buyout could mean he'd take less from Utah though.Originally posted by myboynoah View PostSo that $500,000 is factored into the $750,000 - $900,000? That's confusing.

If I am remembering correctly, Utah did not sign a recruit from Hawaii in 2010 and may or may not have any on the books for 2011. One would think Chow could get some of those kids to come to Utah as well.Originally posted by RedSox View PostI'd be excited if I were a Ute fan. Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

Maybe chow is getting a base salary and then an equity stake in the university of Utah. Vests over 2 football seasons. No board seat for Chow, though.Originally posted by myboynoah View PostSeriously? Is that annual? What does that mean, "compensation package?" How much of that would be salary? Or is it all considered salary? That would be quite the raise after being fired.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

So he had no role in recruiting Polynesian kids to BYU and USC? If true, that would definitely surprise me, but I was living in a cable-less home in Maine during much of his tenure at BYU (and I don't have time to follow USC recruiting).Originally posted by CJF View PostYou're remembering wrong.Jesus wants me for a sunbeam.

Back when he left BYU the talk was all about how BYU now had to repair relationships on the island that Chow had broken.Originally posted by RedSox View PostI'd be excited if I were a Ute fan. Wasn't he integral in recruiting X to UCLA (I'm not putting much stock in my memory)?Jesus wants me for a sunbeam.

Possibly Chow played a role, but if I had to guess, it had very little to do with Chow doing a good job of recruiting. Now if you want to get a coach with local ties who has a great reputation for being able to recruit the islands, hire McBride. That guy was fantastic island recruiter and really exposed BYU in general and Chow specifically.Originally posted by RedSox View PostAh....I was on my mission then.

Chow is not a recruiter but he he is a name that should help in recruiting. Even if he does not visit the living room of a single recruit he will be a net positive in recruiting IMHO.
Chow is a fantastic hire for the Utes. I mean that will all sincerity. He is a fantastic play caller and developer of quarterbacks. This is something that the Utes need and he will do well there. If I were a Ute fan I would be excited.Dyslexics are teople poo...
