I think he'll try. He's going for the jugular every game now.

I don't even know. I am completely in the dark about how the recruiting competition goes down between the two schools. I always sort of thought outside of the obvious high rated recruits, they were going after different personnel.

I thought I heard Chow recruited some O-linemen.

Chow does bring a certain cachet to the younger generation who associates him with USC.
I don't think we need any racist recruits. If they pick their school by the color of their coach's skin, we don't want them.

This is great news for BYU. All we have to do is get Utah in 3rd and 11+ and we'll know exactly where the ball is going.....draw play up the middle.

And one or two coaches of color is probably not going to make a huge difference regardless. My bigger question is if Utah goes to a more pro style offense, how does does the recruiting battle change?

I'm surprised Utah didn't make a run at Crowton. It looks like he is headed to Maryland to be their OC.

Agreed, good thing the AD never said that.

Right. It was a BYU vice president. Much worse.

                        Yes, not good.

Odd though, if Chow had been offered the HC job, we still would have taken it.

This is good for both Utah and BYU. Good for Utah because Chow is obviously an upgrade over Schroderick. Good for BYU because Chow is not the answer nor the guru he once was. The game has passed him by. I would say Utah and UCLA have similar talent and Chow was unable to get anything going. He struck out at Tennessee and was mutually relieved of his duties at SC. He does not recruit (although rumor has it he landed Su'afilo so maybe there could be a transfer after a mission) and he clashes with a lot of people. I can see him lasting 2 maybe 3 years tops. But like I said it is an upgrade over what they had.

Wow big surprise. I found out when junkie sent me a text. I didnt even know this was on the radar. Here is my simple view on this matter:

Is NoCho a step up from Utahs current position? I think so, definitely. It is a great hire for Utah.

Don't know if he will be able to work his same SC magic given the lack of horses at Utah (we saw how well he performed at Fucla with no horses) but I still think he will be able to contribute in a significant way.

To a previous question posed in the thread, no, NoCho did almost no recruiting at SC. That was all Ed O, Pete, Kiffen, and Petes son Brendan to a large degree. Mst everyone agrees that Norm is not a people person. That being said, who cares? Whit can figure out recruiting on his own and use Norms brand recognition to aid in recruiting, even if Norm isn't going to physically be going door to door on the recruiting trail.

One thing is for sure....it just became a heck of lot easier for Utah to recruit QBs over the coming seasons. Very few OCs with Norms resume.

This hire all but makes LaVell the defacto coach of the Utes. There are BYU fingerprints all over the place. Kind of fitting the day after BYU becomes the all time leader in the baketball rivalry!
                            Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

My little sister could have been the OC with their talent. UCLA had a horrible offense the whole time he was there. Utah simply doesn't have enough talent to make him look good and he has nothing to offer that will make them better. What a wonderful day!

Is there anything out there to substantiate this other than the tweet? Who is that guy, anyway? Utah's Gman? I'm going to wait until someone else, ANYONE, jumps on this one.
