Yeah he looked good. I forgot to add that it seems like JJ has become faster.

JJ had two nice runs, the one I mentioned previously and another that looked to be stopped for a loss of two or three where he reversed field a la Barry Sanders and ended up gaining around 9. It was a nice effort play by JJ. He also had a nice catch out of the backfield with Riley in that went for a 1st down.

Kariya had a few nice runs. Straight ahead for 4-6 yards. You know what you're getting there and putting yourself at 2nd and 4 is a good place to be with the way they were running play action today.

Thanks CJ. We got every single detail about nelson short of whether his laces were double or single knotted and how his abs looked with his shirt tucked up, so I'm glad someone chimed in on the defensive players.

As mentioned Hague dropped a pick that would have gone for six the other way. Other than that I thought Hague did a good job at safety. Uale also had a decent hit on one of the receivers, though I can't remember who right now.

Uale also got shook up big time by JJ.

I think he was the one bringing out the ball on the first play when IP broke his leg.

Two former #BYU QBs told me Heaps TD pass to MJ was extremely difficult throw. To deliver it with that kind of velocity was NFL impressive.

DB coach Nick Howell singled out corner Preston Hadley today. Before looking at film, Howell said Hadley had an impressive scrimmage.

Sounds like it's going to be Eason and Hadley starting.

I'm surprisingly less worried about the performance of our DBs after today. They put a hurtin on a few people. The kind of contact seeking attitude Andrew Rich had would really make headway against their relatively weak athleticism.

Similar to linebackers, I would guess that there will be quite a few players who see significant snaps at the corners.

I think the one guy who hasn't been mentioned yet who looked impressive in limited action, was Fua. He's rail thin, but he was disruptive from the outside on nearly every snap he was in - I might dare say he was unblockable. My brother said they are worried about his size (too thin), I don't know how true that is, but regardless, he looks like a playmaker and should be out there for significant minutes. I believe he even got a blown whistle sack on perhaps his first play in the game. If he didn't get credit for a sack, he probably should have.

Also, I don't think anybody has mentioned Van Noy making Matt Reynolds look silly on one particular pass play as he blew by him and would have crushed Heaps if it were a real game.

Interesting, thanks for that note - I was wondering how Fua was looking and I feel like he's a huge wild card for us. The depth of athletic players at OLB is mindblowing right now. In the interview above w/ Popp he says Pendleton, KVN, Frazier, Wagner and Ansah are going to be battling for the rotation but also mentions Fua. Having that range of ready talent is going to be valuable in the killer heat of Miss and Texas in Sep. Can't wait to see it in action.

I still feel like Fua, with his build, ought to consider a switch to WR where his athleticism would be equally sick. I'm pretty sure he's the only guy on our roster who was offered by tOSU (except for maybe Kav?).

Seeing the way he's built, I thought about a switch to WR as well - he didn't even look like a football player - let alone a OLB or DE - to me because he was so thin, especially in the legs, IMO. Just looked like tall skinny kid who thought it would be fun to put on a uniform and hang out with the team. But then when you focus on him from the snap, you quickly see that same kid you saw on youtube who couldn't be blocked in HS. He's a gamer and a playmaker who gets it in terms of playing defensive football. Again, I'm basing my comments on just a handful of plays, so take all this with a grain of salt, but I think if you put him at WR, he would make plays there as well - it looks to be the way he's wired.

If you asked that question to 10 fans, you probably would get correct answers from 2 or 3 of them. I don't see anything wrong with asking what those names represent when they keep popping up in newspaper articles and video clips.
