I think much of the credit for Sunseri's improvement lies with the Pitt Offensive line's improvement through the year, as evidenced by their improved run game the last half of the year as well. Their interior 3 were owned by Siliga and Kruger during that game.

I understand that you don't believe that Utah deserves credit for anything. While you make good points, you credibility is hurt by your consistent refusal to give the Utes credit.

Sorry for thinking that the team you just beat by 1 on your home field can beat you at their place next year. Thinking about that does seem really unreasonable.

Arizona is a defensive team under Stoops, they try to win games in the low 20s. They will have enough offense to get to 21 on Utah, will Utah have enough to get to 22 on them?

Prelim 2011 outlook: Worst-case scenario is 6-6. Five toss-up games, with Utah going 3-2, although with four on the road, 2-3 is acceptable, and 1-4 could happen. I think going 3-2 is more likely than 1-4, but I'll split the difference and say Utah gets 8 wins next year.

If Utah can get to Arizona no worse than 3-2 in conference play, the Arizona game is a live bet to be for the Pac-12 South rep in the conference title game. If Utah exits that game in first place, it will all but have locked up the South, as it's smooth sailing the rest of the way. But Arizona is the one game I'm already conceding as a loss as things stand now. Of course, a lot can change between now and then.

Are you making this post because BYU's 2011 schedule was released yesterday? Utah's 2011 schedule isn't news.

Arizona might want to try a different strategy, if that really is their strategy, which I doubt. It's only 6-8 in games where it's scored fewer than 30 points since 2008. It's 17-7 when it scores more than 30.

I can't decide if Arizona's late-season slide makes me more optimistic about winning the division (because while USC is still probably the best team in the division, obviously they can't win the South, so Zona is the favorite) or less optimistic (parity; wearing down over the course of the season; etc.)

I think 8-4 is completely reasonable, and if it can get us the Holiday or Sun Bowl, I would be thrilled.

I am not understanding how any of you thin Utah will be better next year.

No Wynn for the next 6 months so zero improvement out of him.

You lose Asiata and Wide. You lose Taylor and Schlauderaff. You lose Jereme Brooks and Shaky.

Defensively you may lose both corners you lose a starting safety and starting D-end.

Explain to me how Utah is better next year and games that they would have clearly lost this year (at BYU, at USC, pretty much any game against a team above .500 that was on the road) will be "toss up" games next year.

I just do not see it.

This is a good point. Has junkie factored in that Smithson will no longer be on the team? That makes it tough for opposing defenses to rack up points.

Plenty of reasons to be optimistic they are going to a conference that loves to air it out with some of the best QBs in the country and they are bringing with them the worst secondary in the Mountain West. Clearly they should be the favorites to win their division next year.

I'm sure that people can answer these questions, but you are so blinded by hatred in your analysis of all things Utes it is a waste of time.

For as much knowledge of football that you have, you have zero credibility when you talk about the Utes. Look no further than your independence is better than going to the Pac-12 claims to see your lack of credibility.

I think Utah struggles to make it to .500 next season.

I think they will struggle to win on the road. When's the last time Utah beat a PAC-10 team on the road? Just going off of memory the last 3 PAC-10 teams they played on the road were all losses. Oregon, Oregon State and UCLA I believe. I'm not sure I understand having Utah being a favorite to win at CAL either. Oregon this year got out of Berkeley by the skin of their teeth.

They'll struggle to win at Pitt and BYU as well.

If they reach 7 or 8 wins with their new schedule, then that has to be considered a very successful 1st year in the PAC-12.

I've mentioned before I do think they'll be competitive, but I think they're quite a ways off in being contenders.
